Here’s what went down on ROH for 11/9/09:

The night was kicked off by the ROH World Champion, Austin Aries, coming down to ringside.  Says there are two classes of people, champions, like himself, and those who just aren’t good enough, like Tyler Black.

• Tyler Black is invited out to the ring by the champ to make a selection for tonight’s A-Double L-Double, Austin Aries Lucky Lottery.
• Black makes the selection from the hat, holds it up in front of his face, and it turns out to be a blank piece of paper.  In a quick moment, Aries progresses to burn the paper with a lighter, almost catching Black’s face on fire!

Video Package: Bryan Danielson’s #3 moment in ROH – Manhattan Mayhem II from 2007 where he fractured his eye socket and had a detached retina.

Kevin Steen and El Generico defeat The Super Smash Bros. via pin fall after a combo of the Package Pile Driver by Steen and the Brainbusta! by Generico on Player Dos.

Backstage: Kyle Durden backstage with The Embassy (Prince Nana, Ernie Osiris, & Joey Ryan).  They address the issue with cutting off part Grizzly Redwood’s beard.

Chris Hero (with Shane Hagadorn) defeats Bobby Dempsey via pin fall after hitting the Death Blow (roaring elbow).  After the match Eddie Kingston comes out to the ring and says that maybe he should be more like Hero…?

Backstage: Jim Cornette speaks directly to the crowd at home.  Says that he’s always been for PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING not SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!  Also says that he knows professional wrestling inside and out, and that this company (ROH) will go to the next level!

“Skullkrusher” Rasche Brown, making his in ring debut, defeats Sal Rinauro via pin fall after hitting a Torture Rack to Burning Hammer drop.  Total squash match!

Main Event Tag Team Match (non-title)
American Wolves (with Shane Hagadorn) defeat Roderick Strong and Bryan Danielson after Strong tapped out to the Half Boston Crab by Eddie Edwards.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

In the opening sequence with Austin Aries, I got a huge laugh when some 10 year old voice came from the crowd multiple times to say “FUCK YOU!” to the champion!

Eddie Kingston playing mind games with Chris Hero… WOW!  I didn’t know that Kingston actually had a brain!  If it comes down to mind games, I think Hero is light years ahead in this feud!

LINE OF THE NIGHT:
(Before the match between Rasche Brown and Sal Rinauro)
Dave Prazak: I think Sal Rinauro suffers from this condition called wrong place, wrong time.
Mike Hogwood: No, I think he suffers from the condition called afraid of getting his butt kicked.

Glad to finally hear directly from Jim Cornette.  I think that ROH is a better match for him anyways, considering he’s more a pro wrestling person than an entertainment person.  Plus he’s one of those guys who’ll tell you to your face whether you suck or not, and that’s something that the wrestling industry needs!

Main event match was amazing!  Tons of action!  The team with more experience together won!  While it sucks that this was Bryan Danielson’s 2nd to last match and he lost, the better TEAM won!
