Here’s what went down on Smackdown for 11/13/09 from England:

CM Punk comes out to the ring to talk smack about the British fans being just as bad as Americans with their drinking and smoking.  Tells them they need someone like him to look up to and aspire to be like.

  • R-Truth comes down to the ring for his match with Punk, but before he grabs the mic.  Says that he’s not here to make Punk look bad, he’s been doing a good job of that already… he’s here to shut Punk up!

CM Punk defeated R-Truth via pin fall with some help from the middle rope.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Announcers plug the new Rey Mysterio book, Behind The Mask.

Backstage: Mickie James comes out of her locker room and runs into Layla who talks some trash.  In the background, you see Michelle McCool sneak into Mickie’s locker room.  I think she’s up to something!

Natalya defeated Mickie James via submission from the Sharpshooter.  During the match, Michelle McCool and Layla came out with some of Mickie’s belongings from the back and progressed to cutting them with a pair of scissors, which distracted Mickie who was attacked from behind by Natalya.

Video Package: Wrestlemania tickets on sale now!

Video Package: Hulk Hogan DVD coming out soon!

Backstage: Josh Matthews with Intercontinental Champion, John Morrison.  Says that he’s human.  He’s nervous now for his match, but he thrives on the pressure!

Drew McIntyre comes down to the ring.  He says two weeks ago, “he didn’t let Finlay in the ring because he wasn’t worthy… let’s just see how much he loves to fight me!”

The match between Drew McIntyre and Finlay was ruled a no contest as the referee lost control.  McIntyre got the best of the exchange leaving Finlay flat on his back in the ring after hitting him with Finlay’s shillelagh multiple times.  Referees tend to Finlay and help him to the back.

Matt Striker gets in the ring and emcees the contract signing between Rey Mysterio and Batista.  Batista and Rey both sign the contract.  Batista also gives Rey another contract to sign that absolves him of anything, meaning he cannot be sued for his actions at Survivor Series if Rey gets hurt or killed.  Rey signs it and says that it’s not going to be him, it’s going to be Batista that gets embarrassed!  Rey flips over the table onto Batista and hightails it out of the ring.

The Intercontinental Championship match between John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler went to a double count out after both men fell off the top rope to the floor.  Morrison retains by default.

Beth Phoenix defeated Lisa Taylor (jobber) via pin fall after hitting the Glam Slam.

Backstage: Chris Jericho getting ready is interrupted by Josh Matthews who asked is he is concerned about his match tonight since he’s NEVER been in the ring before with The Undertaker.  Jericho says again that he’s just a man, flesh and bone, and that he can’t believe that people have been brainwashed to think that he has magical powers.

Main Event Match (Non-Title)
The Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho via the Hell’s Gate submission hold.  After the match, Big Show comes out to the ring to get the Undertaker’s attention and both he and Jericho man handle Taker, but Kane comes down to aid his brother.

Backstage: Vince McMahon is watching the broadcast when he gets a phone call from Teddy Long. He runs an idea by Long for next week, Kane & Taker (Brothers of Destruction) versus JeriShow!

QUICK THOUGHTS:

If you didn’t know this, “The choice of a new generation,” Punk’s new tag line, was a Pepsi slogan in the past.

The women’s match was decent until the stupid distraction angle.  Mickie and Natalya are arguably the two best wrestlers in WWE’s women’s division.

Drew McIntyre is starting to become a total bad ass!  I’m really digging this guy’s mean streak.  I can see why the WWE’s pegging him as a future WWE Champion.  After now two times of besting Finlay, I can’t help but think that we’re going to be having a Belfast Brawl soon!

Nice to see a double count out.  Something that doesn’t happen very often that builds up some more tension between Morrison and Ziggler.

Beth Phoenix faces another jobber… YAWN!

NEXT WEEK IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!  THE BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION ARE BACK TOGETHER!!!
