ECW on SyFy – 11/24/09

Didn’t catch ECW on SyFy this week because you’re playing too much Modern Warfare 2?  Well I took a break from the console to actually watch some wrestling.  Here’s what happened:

Zack Ryder with Rosa Mendez vs. Shelton Benjamin
WINNER: Shelton Benjamin via pin fall after hitting Pay Dirt.  It was announced during the match that if Benjamin won, he’d become the new #1 contender for the ECW title.

• After the match, the ECW Champion, Christian comes down to the ring to discus with Benjamin the TLC PPV in 3 weeks.  He said that since ECW has been over looked at PPVs recently, he wants to steal the show with Benjamin… in a ladder match!  Benjamin accepts the challenge!

Backstage: William Regal, Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson are talking.  Regal is still bitter about not being ECW champion and says that if he gets a win tonight he’ll be right back in the thick of things.

Vance Archer vs. Alex Reynolds
WINNER: Vance Archer via pin fall after hitting a reverse DDT.

Tony Atlas introduces us to the Abraham Washington Show, with our host, Abraham Washington.

• Abe makes some cracks about the Twilight move and says that some people in the crowd have faces that look like werewolves.
• Introduces his guest for the evening, Matt Hardy, and tells him that he was a little disappointed when he found out it wasn’t Jeff Hardy.
• Matt’s there to plug himself being on Scare Tactics next week before ECW.  Tony Atlas sneaks up behind Abe and scares the crap out of him.   Naturally Abe’s next question to Matt is what is he afraid of?  Matt says he’s been having a reoccurring nightmare of being on the Abraham Washington Show.
• Show ends with Matt Hardy and Tony Atlas doing Hardy’s traditional V1.0 fingers.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. William Regal with Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson
WINNER: Yoshi Tatsu via pin fall.  Regal had the match in hand and Kozlov pushed Tatsu off the ropes towards Regal giving Tatsu ample momentum to hit Regal with a kick to the head for the 1-2-3!

• After the match, Regal has words with his goons and Kozlov points the finger of blame at Jackson who gives him a Eurinagi slam (looks like a Rock Bottom) for his trouble.  Regal calls Jackson out for it, and Regal gets one as well.  Jackson walks off.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

This was one of the most boring episodes of ECW in a long time!  All the matches were very lackluster and relatively shorter than the norm.  I’m very disappointed in WWE after having such a great RAW they give us this garbage!  There’s not much more to say on this, so I’ll leave it at that for this post!
