Let The War Begin!

Posted by: oldskoolwarrior

It was just announced tonight by Hulk Hogan himself during an interview on the Spike TV broadcast of UFC’s Ultimate Finale with Joe Rogan that TNA Impact will go opposite of WWE Monday Night RAW on Monday, January 4, 2010 in a LIVE 3-hour special.  This will be the Impact Zone debut of the immortal one!

  • “TNA is kicking off 2010 in the biggest way possible with the biggest name in the history of our sport. Hulk Hogan is a pop culture icon, and his arrival will change not only TNA, but the entire professional wrestling landscape. We’re firing that first shot,” (Dixie) Carter said. (TNA press release)

When I heard this announcement my first reaction was WTF?!?  My second reaction was WTF?!?  First was shock, and the second was more confusion based.  I don’t know if this is a good thing for TNA to do right now.  Personally, I find TNA more entertaining than WWE, so I know that I’ll be tuning into TNA and DVRing RAW to watch later.  When I went back and found the press release online, I also saw that TNA will NOT be moving consistently to Monday night, and will remain in it’s usual Thursday night time slot.  They’re going to use this almost as a test to see if it is feasible to compete with the big dog!

So Vince McMahon, do you consider TNA a threat now?  They’re calling you out!  First they have their press conference in your house of Madison Square Garden, and now they’re going to invade your night of the week, same time slot!  The first shot has been fired!  Can Hogan really get enough people to change the channel and “Cross The Line?”  We will find out in less than a month!

            BallHype: hype it up!

I am not impressed with Hulk Hogan anymore . I feel that his personal life has over reached his Professional one. The clerk who claims that the Hulkster purchased liquor for Nick and his friends the night that John Grassiano, a veteran , was almost killed … and Nick only received a few months because of his father’s high priced attorneys …
Hogan running around with young girls that are his daughter’s age …
What an example to the young people of today is this character ?
Since we’ve NOT heard a peep or even seen Jeff Jarrett; is is same to “Assume” that Hulk Hogan has more than likely Purchased jeff’s stocks/Interest in TNA … thus enabling him to “Partner Up” with Dixie carter ??
It is indeed a dark day in Professional Wrestling when TNA has to sink so low to get on top …

This should be pretty interesting. The WWE has never had a legitimate threat, but as we know a name can carry a brand very far. Hulk Hogan may be able to do just that. It’s something to watch for!

1highShaman – You mentioned Jeff Jarrett in your response. Double J had a voice appearance on this past Thursday’s Impact on the phone with Mick Foley. Now I know that’s not much to go by, but as of right now he’s on “personal leave.” I don’t know how much of a work this is, or if there is legitimate problems between he and Dixie Carter.
Hogan hasn’t been a great example as of late, and I do not know if Hogan has purchased stock from Jarrett, but it’s a good idea for a conspiracy theory that I’ll try to look into.

Josh – WWE hasn’t had a legitimate threat in the past 8 years since WCW was bought out by Vince. If you get a chance, go back and watch the Monday Night Wars DVD or read Eric Bischoff’s book, Controversy Creates Cash. Both have great insight as to what happened when WWE had competition and how close WWE was to actually going under. Not many people realized that.
