WWE Superstars on WGN America – 12/31/09

Here’s the rundown of what happened on WWE Superstars this week:

Melina vs. Alicia Fox
WINNER: Melina via pin fall after hitting the Last Call (Sunset Flip/Power Bomb)

Shelton Benjamin vs. Vance Archer
WINNER: Shelton Benjamin via DQ after Vance Archer refused to stop beating down Benjamin while stuck in the Tree of Woe.

• After the match, Archer continued the beat down hitting his Reverse DDT finisher.

Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG) vs. Mike Knox & Charlie Haas
WINNERS: Cryme Tyme via pin fall on Charlie Haas

MVP & Chris Masters with Eve Torres vs. Carlito & Jack Swagger
WINNERS: Carlito & Swagger via pin when Carlito hit a Backstabber on Masters

QUICK THOUGHTS:

The opening sequence of the Diva’s match caught me off guard.  Alicia Fox and Melina went through a sequence of maneuvers and counters that really has been missing from the WWE women’s division.  Seeing Alicia Fox pull off a Northern Light’s Suplex flawlessly was just an amazing sight!  Kudos to the ladies in this match up, for once, you’ve impressed me by your wrestling talents!

Archer gets his first loss in WWE, but still doesn’t lose any heat from it!  Good job WWE!  Two matches in a row you’ve done well with your bookings!  Tonight is a landmark night!

Last two matches of the night were just decent.  Nothing overly spectacular for me.  The heels go over in a match that was stolen at the last moment by a blindside backstabber.  Not the best way to end 2009, but that’s WWE for you!
