Weekend Update

So there have been some goings on in the wrestling world over the course of the last week that I want to bring to everyone’s attention:

There’s talk going around that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon thinks that the Survivor Series PPV is very outdated.  If that’s the case, then it might be repackaged as something else when November rolls around this year.  It’s unfortunate because Survivor Series was one of the original “big four” when WWE started having scheduled yearly PPVs along with the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam.  Personally, I like the elimination style tag team matches because it’s something that we don’t get to see very often, but considering the month before it in 2009, the WWE brought the Bragging Rights PPV concept that had a major match based around an elimination tag team match.  I don’t want to see it go, but if PPV buy rates are down, I don’t blame them for trying to make it more marketable by changing things up a little bit.

It was also announced on a telephone conference by Vince McMahon that by 2011 the WWE is trying to work to launch their own TV network.  If you have been following my blogs for awhile, you know already how big of a fan of this idea that I am.  I fully expect to waste extra money on this just so I can watch wrestling all freakin’ day long!

TNA has a major announcement coming on Monday, and if it’s what we all think it’s going to be, my Monday night wrestling watching just got a little more jam packed (Thank God for my DVR).  If it’s something other than a LIVE weekly Monday Impact, the only other idea I have would be a signing of a big name superstar, and the only name that’s floating around is “The whole FN show” Rob Van Dam.  That would be major pick up for TNA, but the key question is what in the hell are they going to do with him?  TNA already has great talent going to waste on the sidelines since Hulk Hogan came into power, I hope that if RVD comes in they don’t waste him or bury someone else.

Stay tuned tomorrow for TNA’s PPV, Against All Odds!  I’ll have my preview and predictions coming out before the show goes on the air!  Take care everyone!
