Ring of Honor – 3/1/10

If you didn’t catch Ring of Honor on HDNet this week, have no fear.  Once again, I’m here to fill you in.  Here’s what happened tonight:

Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavous) vs. American Wolves with Shane Hagadorn (Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards)
WINNERS: DCFC via pin fall after hitting Project Mayhem on Edwards

Backstage: Kyle Durdan is with Rasche Brown and asks him about the two factions that have been courting him for his services.  He really doesn’t say much about making a choice, but says for certain, “pain is coming!”

Bobby Dempsey vs. Steve Corino
WINNER: Steve Corino via roll up pin fall

• After the match, Dempsey attacked Corino, and Kevin Steen came in for the save.
• Alex Payne tried to rescue Dempsey, but got the tar beat out of him for it by Steen and Corino.  They left him bloody.

Video Package: Sara Del Rey talks about how she’s a different person when she gets into the ring.  How she hates how the model types are trying to get into the business.

2 on 1 Handicap Match
The Set vs. Rasche Brown
WINNER: Rasche Brown via pin fall after hitting the Burning Hammer

• Shane Hagadorn and Prince Nana look on during the match.
• After the match, both men have contracts in their hands for him to sign, and Brown walks right both of them.

Portia Perez vs. Sara Del Rey with Shane Hagadorn
WINNER: Sara Del Rey via pin fall after hitting a vicious Pile Driver

We get a look at the brackets for the World Television Title Tournament starting next week.

Roderick Strong & Tyler Black vs. Kenny King & Austin Aries
WINNER: King & Aries via pin fall after Black accidentally super kicked his partner in the mouth.

• After the match, Black and Strong start jawing at each other and referees have to break it up.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Opening contest was awesome!  I fully did not expect to see DCFC upset the Wolves.  ROH is looking to shake up the tag team division and I like it!

Dempsey put up a decent fight against Corino, but I’d still consider that one a squash, especially after what happened post match.  Silly Sugarfoot Alex Payne!  You should know not to mess with Kevin Steen!

Rasche Brown defeats two people in 3 minutes… yawn… Until they actually have him in a match with someone credible, I hope not to see him again.

Nice to see the ladies in the ring tonight.  I’m a little upset that Portia Perez got shellacked.  I’ve had a little crush on her since I first saw her on a Shimmer DVD, but I sort of figured she would lose since she’s not a ROH regular.

Main event was good, but for a majority of the match it was a beat down on Roderick Strong.  After Black got the hot tag it was all for the baby faces until the mistake, and Kenny King was there to take full advantage and get the victory.
