With this past week’s editions of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown in the books, here is a look at the updated card for WWE Payback.

John Cena vs. Ryback in a 3 stages of hell match for the WWE Championship

  • This match figures to put an end to the feud between Cena and Ryback. Though, the long-term plans for both superstars are not known at this point in time. All indications point to Cena retaining the title at WWE Payback. Reason being if Ryback were to win, then that would set up another match between the two at WWE Money In The Bank. That is something that WWE is probably trying to avoid.

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

  • This match figures to steal the show once again at WWE Payback like it did at Wrestlemania 28. Punk and Jericho are two of the best promoters in all of WWE and expect the anticipation for this match to build in the coming weeks. Though, the fact that Punk is returning from a hiatus and it is in his hometown nonetheless is what should make this pay-per view a success for WWE.

Those are the only two matches on the card for WWE Payback. Of course in the coming two weeks, expect more matches to be added. WWE is continuing to build a feud between Randy Orton, Team Hell No and The Shield. It’s possible that WWE Payback could see a six-man tag match with Randy Orton, Kane, and Daniel Bryan facing The Shield.

WWE Payback is two weeks from today on June 16.
