On Friday Night Smackdown, Randy Orton was in a tag-team match with Daniel Bryan against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Entering the match, Orton and Bryan were on the cusp of beginning a feud and the match did nothing to prevent that from happening.
During the match, Bryan inadvertently kicked Orton while he was leaning against the turnbuckle. The mishap distracted Bryan to the point that The Shield were able to take advantage and secure the victory.
After the match, Orton delivered a RKO to Bryan.
With that move, WWE could be beginning to make Orton into a heel once again. Bryan has had the WWE Universe behind him in recent weeks, and when Orton delivered a RKO to Bryan, boos were directed towards WWE’s apex predator.
Turning Orton into a heel is something that WWE has been planning to do for sometime. The heel turn for Orton not only sets up a match with Bryan at WWE Payback, but it could also set up a match between Orton and Sheamus at Summerslam.
WWE has long been wanting to create a feud between Orton and Sheamus, and the company was just waiting for the opportunity to turn one of the superstars into a heel. That opportunity was created on Friday Night for Orton.
Orton has long been in favor of being a heel, and in fact, he is at his best when he is a heel. For that reason, WWE fans should be excited about what the future may have in store for Orton if he successfully turns into a heel.
