The final Monday Night Raw before WWE Payback is tonight in Richmond, Virginia. There are several storylines to watch for tonight and perhaps none bigger the possible return of CM Punk.
CM Punk will wrestle Chris Jericho at WWE Payback this Sunday in Chicago. Punk has yet to appear on WWE Programming since April 15. On Friday during Smackdown, Punk’s music played during Jericho’s match with Curtis Axle. Chances are that Jericho will have something to say about that on Raw and Punk may respond in person.
Speaking of Paul Heyman’s clients, Triple H indicated last week on Raw that he would open tonight’s Raw in the ring vowing to go against orders given to him by Stephanie and Vince McMahon and fight Curtis Axle. This storyline is expected to continue past Payback as Vince and Stephanie are scheduled to appear on the June 17 edition of Raw.
Dolph Ziggler is expected to return from his concussion on Raw tonight, though, it is unclear if the World Heavyweight Champion has been cleared to compete.
Look for John Cena to call out Ryback once again on Raw. WWE appears to be going with the storyline of Ryback constantly getting the upper-hand on Cena leading into their WWE championship match on Sunday. That scenario will likely conclude with Cena finally getting one-up on Ryback and winning at Payback.
It will be interesting to see what happens with angle between Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, and The Shield. Orton delivered a RKO to Bryan to end Smackdown and the thought was that Orton was making a heel turn. However, Orton worked as a babyface during this weekend’s live events for WWE. It remains possible that Orton could make a heel turn in the near future.
