Brock Lesnar returned this past Monday on Raw and delivered a F5 to CM Punk to end the show.
Immediately after the show, it was clear that WWE was beginning the feud between Lesnar and Punk.
What was unclear is when the match would happen.
Initially, the thought here was that the match would occur at the Money in the Bank pay-per view in July. However, that no longer appears to be the case.
Immediately after Raw went off the air, the official twitter handle for SummerSlam tweeted an official countdown to the pay-per view in August.
While that is by no means a confirmation that the match will happen at SummerSlam, it is a pretty good indicator.
There likely will be a storyline update on Monday, though Lesnar is not expected to appear.
Having the match between Punk and Lesnar at SummerSlam makes logical sense for WWE. There has always been anticipation among the WWE Universe for a match between Lesnar and Punk. That match is going to happen. And like Punk’s match with Chris Jericho at Payback, his match with Lesnar will steal the show at SummerSlam.
