Tonight on Monday Night Raw, we will see the company’s annual Christmas show. A show that many should enjoy without high expectations.
This is not a knock on the Christmas show, it’s just that WWE doesn’t put much stock in this show, and this show probably won’t play too big a role in storylines.
For example, last year’s show’s main event featured John Cena defeating Alberto Del Rio in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight, after Del Rio made his entrance at the beginning of the show and hit Santa with his car. Most of the show featured the WWE Superstars monitoring Santa’s health, and Cena getting ready to avenge Santa’s injury. It all seems a little silly, but it’s supposed to be.
One of the main selling points for this show is a match between Mark Henry and Damien Sandow. In this match, both men will enter wearing Santa suits, Sandow as Bad Santa, Henry as Good Santa. This match will feature Henry trying to defeat Sandow, in order to save Christmas. It sounds like the standard plot for a Christmas special, not a feud that’s going to lead to WrestleMania.
However, it might not be an episode completely without storyline progression. The WWE website’s preview of tonight’s episode seems to tease potential attacks from the The Shield on CM Punk, and The Wyatt Family on Daniel Bryan. The preview is also setting up a potential match for the Rhodes brothers in their attempt to regain momentum after their loss last week.
