There are more reports on Hulk Hogan’s return to WWE, after previous reports claimed that the two sides had reached a deal.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Hogan took a physical with the WWE doctors and the company has decided to not have Hogan in a match, or book him in any physical situations. Hogan will still appear at WrestleMania XXX, he just won’t have any physical interactions.
Some fans aren’t going to like this news, but unfortunately this is what WWE thought would happen all along. At 60-years-old, Hogan is just not in good enough shape. Frankly, it’s tough to imagine anybody at that age getting in the ring, let alone putting on a good match.
The other interesting news coming out of that report is the target date for Hogan’s return. No big surprise here, the target date is February 24th. If that sounds familiar it’s because that’s the night the WWE Network debuts.
Hogan is the perfect ambassador for the WWE Network, WrestleMania was the first pay-per-view, and it wouldn’t have succeeded without Hogan. So there’s a chance that the whole library of pay-per-views wouldn’t exist without Hogan.
The WWE Universe is going to explode when Hogan’s music hits upon his return, and the same will happen inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans at WrestleMania, whether he ends up wrestling or not.
Which is fine, because at this point in his career, he is best used as a PR figure, and as a source of wisdom for younger guys. Nonetheless, when he comes back Hulkamania is going to run wild on the WWE Universe.
