Main Event Review: 2/19/2014

The Shield vs. Los Matadores and Sin Cara

Awesome move as Roman Reigns speared Fernando and Sin Cara at the same time. Reigns then hit the Superman Punch while Dean Ambrose held Diego up in the air, Seth Rollins pinned Diego after the Blackout for the win.

My Take: Pretty fun match. Can’t ask for much from Los Matadores and Sin Cara, they have very little chance of winning a match like this, but that doesn’t mean they can’t put on a show, which is exactly what they did here.

Aksana vs. Cameron

More “Total Divas” domination. Cameron rolls Aksana up for the win.

My Take: Not as bad as it could have been. This is what happens when you focus your attention on Namoi, then she gets hurt and Cameron has to carry all The Funkadactyls’ momentum.

Bad News Barrett promo

Barrett mocked the US Olympic team, as they are on track for their lowest medal count since 1988. Then he mocked the legalization of marijuana in Colorado.

My Take: After his backstage segment with Cody Rhodes and Goldust on Monday’s Raw, I hoped for  better things from Barrett, that was silly of me.

Kofi Kingston vs. Curtis Axel

Ryback goes to get involved, but Mark Henry comes to ringside to even the numbers for Kofi. Ryback eventually gets involved and causes a disqualification, he goes to attack Kofi, but Henry gets in the ring and throws Ryback out. With Axel and Ryback recovering on the outside, Kofi gets up and hits both of them with a dive to the outside to end the show.

My Take: Not bad, Kofi and Axel are good in the ring. Ryback and Henry provided something a little extra to this match. The only downside is that it’s unlikely that this goes anywhere.

Overall Impression

Pretty enjoyable show. Exactly what you’d expect from Main Event; good, entertaining wrestling, usually at the expense of in-ring storyline development.
