WWE Main Event Review: Big E defends his title against Dolph Ziggler

WWE Main Event opens with Big E coming to the ring. The announce team says that Christian is suffering from a concussion and that he would not be able to compete tonight. They announce that the other three men from Raw’s #1 Contender’s Match would compete in a Triple Threat to determine who would face Big E later tonight.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat Match to determine the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship

In a bit of a replay of last night, Ziggler hit the Zig Zag on both Del Rio and Sheamus, before pinning Del Rio for the win. Good Triple Threat match, not quite as good as the Fatal 4-Way on Monday, but it was a good match that made the title feel important.

Natalya, Emma, Eva Marie, and The Funkadactyls vs. Summer Rae, Alicia Fox, Aksana, Layla, and Tamina

Tamina got the win over Naomi with a superkick. Emma might have been the most interesting part of this match, she got her fair share of the spotlight, despite the fact that she teamed with the Total Divas. The best part of this match was after the typical tag team match breakdown, Tamina and Naomi were the legal competitors, but Emma and Eva Marie were they only ones standing. Emma then took Eva’s hands and guided her in the Emma Dance, until they ate vicious clotheslines from Tamina. Decent match, Eva Marie got big boos from the crowd when she entered the match. WWE’s got to either give up or give in, stop her from wrestling or at least stop selling her as a face and turn her heel.

Bad News Barrett promo

Barrett says that people should wear masks like Cena did on Raw because they are ugly. If he wrestled this might work, but he is definitely hurt by the fact that he never wrestles on TV.

Big E vs. Dolph Zigger for the Intercontinental Championship

Big E retains with the Big Ending. Good match. The crowd was definitely behind Ziggler. The finishing sequence, with Dolph countering the Big Ending, hitting the Fameasser, then Big E throwing Ziggler in the air and quickly hitting the Big Ending for the win was excellent.

Overall Impression

Decent show. The most noteworthy part were the two glitches at the beginning of the show that most people seemed to experience. Hopefully, it was not foreshadowing for WrestleMania.
