WWE Money in the Bank Predictions: Stardust and Goldust vs. Rybaxel

facebooktwitterreddit

At Money in the Bank, Stardust makes his pay-per-view debut as he teams with Goldust to take on Rybaxel. Stardust made his WWE TV debut a few short weeks ago, when he teamed with Goldust against Rybaxel, and picked up the win by pinning Curtis Axel.

This all started after Cody Rhodes and Goldust lost the WWE Tag Team Championship. They began to lose a lot more frequently, and lost a lot of momentum. This led all the way up to Payback, when Cody once again took the pin, then told Goldust he couldn’t weigh him down anymore.

The following weeks, Cody handpicked new partners for Goldust, but they all shared the same fate as Cody, that is until the debut of Stardust.

Stardust is Cody’s version of Goldust, and so far, Cody has shown the same passion and charisma that his brother shows while playing this off-the-wall character. Whether it be with Cody or Stardust, the Rhodes brothers have had a lot of problems with Rybaxel, and that’s what led to this match.

Find out what will happen in our staff predictions from Michael Dunlap, Alex Del Barrio, Benjamin Raven, Lance Augustine, Luther Fraser, and myself, Mike Smith.

Michael’s Take: Rybaxel has become somewhat of a laughing stock in my eyes. Curtis Axel never got off the ground in the first place and Ryback wasn’t able to show much improvement during his big storyline against John Cena. The Dusts are fine and I’ve always been a fan of Cody Rhodes’ ring work. Since they’re new and fresh as a team, I see them going over. The WWE couldn’t hurt Rybaxel any more with a loss, so pin ’em again.

Alex’s Take: Remember when Ryback was the number one babyface in the company? Don’t believe me? Go watch the Pay-per-views from late 2012. Oh remember when Curtis Axel was a Paul Heyman guy and the Intercontinental champion? He’s retreated to Michael McGillicutty level quicker than we all could have imagined. These two just are not important anymore. Unless they want the Stardust thing to die faster than they’ve created it, I can’t see them losing. Jury is still out on why they are jerking Cody around like this, but a lot of people seem to be on board with this gimmick change. I am on the fence, but I think they stick it out for awhile longer. The Dusters go over here.

Benjamin’s Take: I’m really curious to see what direction this storyline concerning Cody and Goldust goes. I personally think fans will get behind Stardust and the team will gain some momentum heading into SummerSlam. The Rhodes brothers win this one without a doubt in my mind as Rybaxel continues to float around with no true creative direction in sight.

Lance’s Take: Man, what happened to Ryback? 2 years ago, he was on top of the company. Now, in an opening tag match of a PPV. Guess it happens to the best of them. Cody Rhodes has the potential to be a solid upper mid card guy, but has been booked so poorly, I feel like his best work is behind him. I guess it isn’t all bad though, as they at least made it on the card. I have always been a fan of the Goldust character, and it’s cool to see him have his career revitalized. Ill take a Goldust and Stardust win here, just because I feel like this is the hand they have been dealt.

Luther’s Take: I don’t care for this match, the only guy I quite like in this one is Goldust. Goldust and ‘CODY RHODES’ to pick up the win.

Mike’s Take: Stardust is going to pick up another victory for him and his brother here. They’re going to give this sometime to develop. Goldust vs. Cody will either happen this year at SummerSlam, or next year at WrestleMania 31. If Stardust doesn’t pick up steam, it will be at SummerSlam. If Stardust does gain some traction, WWE will again ride the wave of Dusty Rhodes’ boys on top of the tag division.
