The day after Wrestlemania 29, The Rock was meant to start a booking with Brock Lesnar.
On the Monday Night Raw after Wrestlemania 29, The Rock was scheduled for a segment that would have ended with Lesnar attacking The People’s Champ. The attack would then enable a booking between The Rock and Brock Lesnar for Wrestlemania 30.
The segment was nixed after The Rock suffered a multitude of injuries after his match against John Cena at Wrestlemania 29 and the booking was consequently nixed.
In an interview with SportsNation, The Rock indicated that he was scheduled to wrestle Lesnar at both Wrestlemania 30 and Wrestlemania 31.
While speaking about his nixed booking with Lesnar, The Rock also noted that he has been in contact with Vince McMahon about his potential return to the ring. Of course, The Rock has become a one-trick pony in terms of his current status with WWE as he often is only used for Wrestlemania season. The Rock’s availability for another WWE run has been hit-and-miss due to his movie career.
The Rock is starring in the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious series and the movie is set to be released a week after Wrestlemania 31. The current expectation within the WWE is that The Rock will be unable to work the Wrestlemania 31 pay-per because of his promotional responsibilities for the Fast and Furious movie.
But, if the The Rock is available, could a booking with Lesnar still work?
The immediate answer would be no.
Lesnar is currently scheduled to win the WWE World Heavyweight championship at SummerSlam. Lesnar is expected to carry the belt into Wrestlemania 31 and face Roman Reigns.
Therefore, it would seem unlikely that a booking between Lesnar and The Rock could work anytime soon.
But, if the WWE has taught us anything, it is that the word never should be thrown out of the dictionary.
