Hulk Hogan will be returning to television sooner rather than later. As reported by the Wrestling Observer, Hogan is being advertised to appear on Monday Night Raw in Portland, Oregon on August 11th. One look at the WWE calendar shows that the date is the last Raw before Summerslam.
There’s only one reason Hogan would show up right before Summerslam — and it’s not to simply hype the event. He has to be getting involved in one way or another. Obviously, he isn’t going to be wrestling — but why couldn’t he have some sort of role in the pay-per-view?
There aren’t too many storylines that are currently going on that Hogan could be thrust into and still make sense. One that could make some sense would be if Brock Lesnar comes back at Summerslam to go after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It’s been quite some time, but Lesnar and Hogan have a past.
It doesn’t seem like Hogan is in the kind of shape to get physical, so maybe a guest referee spot would be out of the question. Certainly a general manager role would be fun, but they could do something like that outside of a PPV.
What if Hogan were to show up at Summerslam to introduce an incoming or returning wrestler? Hogan also happens to have a history in WCW and one of the hottest names in the rumor mills right now is Sting…so, why not? This is all speculation at this point — WWE could very well just have Hogan on the show to raise the Raw rating and raise awareness for the PPV…but then again, wouldn’t it be a great introduction for the Stinger?
