On Wednesday, Ring of Honor announced that ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon have resigned with the company.
reDRagon is made up of Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, two great independent wrestlers, who have quickly made a name for themselves as a team, since they joined forces about two years ago. They are currently in their third reign as ROH World Tag Team Champions, after defeating The Young Bucks for the title on May 17th, in a Match of the Year candidate.
This is very good news for ROH.
A few months back, rumors were circulating that former ROH wrestler, and current TNA star, Davey Richards was trying to convince reDRagon, along with some other ROH talents, to make the jump to TNA. There seemed to be more to the rumors around reDRagon, as O’Reilly and Richards have a close relationship, with Richards having been involved in O’Reilly’s training.
In two weeks, reDRagon will go to Japan to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling, as representatives of ROH. No more proof should be needed that they are two of the most talented guys on the ROH roster, and it is a big deal for ROH to be retaining their services.
Their next match for ROH will be in Brooklyn, NY, at ROH’s much-hyped Field of Honor event. They will defend the tag titles against Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian, the team formerly known in TNA as Bad Influence.
Daniels and Kazarian are the biggest threat to those titles right now, but hopefully they don’t hold the belts too soon. There’s so much for Daniels and Kazarian to do, their upcoming ROH match with The Young Bucks is a perfect example, and a match with The Briscoes shouldn’t be too far around the corner. reDRagon should get a long reign to truly up the value of those belts, and to try and raise the tag team division up another level.
