Kevin Steen signs with WWE

On Tuesday afternoon, wrestling fans finally got the news they have been waiting for months to hear, Kevin Steen officially signed a deal with WWE. WWE announced the signing on WWE.com.

Steen was, arguably, the best independent wrestler in the world, before signing his new contract. Steen is capable of doing so many things in the ring, be it brawling, technical wrestling, even high-flying, and he is one of the best there is on the mic.

However, that can be said about many guys, and if you’re looking for something that puts Steen above all those guys, you won’t see it in his, no disrespect, less than impressive body.

So, what is it that makes Steen so great? Excuse the cop-out answer, but, he has “it”.

If you haven’t seen Steen before, go do it now. Watch a match or a promo. Whether it be in Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, or anywhere on the independent scene. You’ll see “it”.

Steen controls a crowd like few people can, and he can hold them in the palm of his hands.

According to the article on WWE.com, Steen will report to the WWE Performance Center on August 25th. When Steen reports, he will join other recent signings, Kenta and Fergal Devitt, as NXT continues to ring-in a new era.

Of course, what fans really want to see is Steen rejoining forces with the man formerly known as El Generico, Sami Zayn. That’s unlikely to happen early on in their tenure, but who knows what could happen down the line.

Steen’s first appearance on NXT TV will be a special moment, and hopefully his WWE TV debut won’t be far behind.
