Dolph Ziggler has long been considered by the Internet Wrestling Community to be the best wrestler/entertainer that WWE has to offer. But while Ziggler has a high standing in the hearts of the IWC, the current intercontinental champion has been capped off by WWE as nothing more than a mid-card talent. Ziggler’s designation as a mid-card talent comes only a year after he was routinely involved in main events as part of the World Heavyweight Championship booking.

  • Even since that booking ended last year, Ziggler went back to being a mid-card talent. Unfortunately for Ziggler, a report from Pro Wrestling Torch indicates that the superstar may remain a mid-card talent because of WWE being against his wrestling style.

"[Daily Wrestling News]According to the Pro Wrestling Torch, “Ziggler is good enough in the ring to re-earn management’s enthusiasm from time to time, but his in-ring style doesn’t actually help him in the eyes of top management because he’s seen as someone who works indy style insistently despite advice to slow down and make every move count, and that he sells too much and in an exaggerated fashion.”"

In addition to being against Ziggler’s in-ring performance, WWE is also down on Ziggler’s mic skills and his emulation of Billy Gunn. WWE also considers Ziggler to be a loose cannon when it comes interviews with the media.

"[Daily Wrestling news]The Torch adds that he’s seen “as only decent on the mic.” Plus, his emulation of perennial ex-WWE midcarder Billy Gunn’s “Bad Ass” character and his old habit of basically twerking on the stage during his ring entrance doesn’t do him any favors. The publication adds that behind the scenes, Ziggler is seen as a bit of a loose cannon by WWE officials due to his tendency to speak his mind in media interviews."

In 2011, there was a superstar who was in a similar position. It was not until  a promo at the end of Raw during the summer of 2011 that the superstar emerged as a main-event talent. In that promo, the superstar confessed that he was not only the best in the ring and on the microphone, but was also the best in the world. That superstar, of course, was CM Punk.

Ziggler has the potential to be the next CM Punk. Part of what made Punk so successful was that he was a loose cannon. Punk did not care about corporate politics and simply said what he felt. Ziggler has shown a tendency to do that as well. Instead of being against Ziggler for being a loose cannon, WWE should embrace it. After all, that may provide WWE with a solution to the problem that was created ever since Punk walked out on the company in January.
