WWE Night of Champions Predictions: Paige vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella in a Triple Threat Match for the Divas Championship

At WWE Night of Champions, Paige will find herself in a Triple Threat Match for her Divas Championship, as she takes on AJ Lee and Nikki Bella.

Paige debuted the night after WrestleMania XXX, when she came out on Raw to congratulate AJ for retaining the Divas Championship the night before. AJ thought Paige’s gesture was insincere, so she set out to embarrass her by challenging her to a match, and putting the title on the line. As we all know, Paige shocked the world and won the title that night.

We didn’t see AJ again until late June, when she returned the favor with a shocking return, sudden title match, and a roll-up victory over Paige.

At Battleground in July, AJ defeated Paige with a shining wizard, but a Ram-Paige returned the title to Paige at SummerSlam.

The “frenemies” seemed destined for another rematch at NOC, but Stephanie McMahon changed that.

A few weeks back, Stephanie announced that Nikki would get a shot at the Divas Championship at NOC. Initially, Stephanie announced it as a one-on-one match, but when AJ demanded she get her contractual rematch, it was turned into a Triple Threat.

Nikki, who was treated poorly by Stephanie for months, aligned with her at SummerSlam, when she turned on her sister, Brie, to help Stephanie get a win.

Rob’s Take: Combining these two feuds has made Paige and AJ fall into the background, just so a Total Divas angle could be produced. It hasn’t been too much fun to watch as Nikki and Brie controlled the mic for a few weeks while the others just stood to the side.

This match isn’t going to focus on AJ and Paige once again, but for somewhat of a good reason. I think Brie is going to cost Nikki the Divas Championship, setting up a future match at Hell in a Cell between them. Paige will end up retaining the title in what will be a very short match. Where her and AJ go from here is a mystery.

Rob’s Prediction: Paige

Stephen’s Take: I have enjoyed the addition of The Bella Twins into the title picture as it just made sense with their storyline that they want to be at the top. Paige and AJ are intertwined in their own odd feud of this teasing sexual flirtation, so it’s been interesting to see all of this match up. I think in this match, you’ll see Paige and AJ do most of the work, allowing Nikki to get some cheap win probably pinning AJ.  I’d like to see all three continue in this fight for the title, but ultimately, see Brie Bella getting that Divas title soon down the road.

Stephen’s Prediction: Nikki Bella

Brian’s Take: It’s great to see that they’re actually committing time to a feud between Divas, but I can’t really say that I’m all that excited to see this Triple Threat Match. Paige and AJ have put on some great matches in the past, but the addition of Nikki Bella into this match just adds an unneeded element, in my eyes.

I envision some type of scenario where Brie Bella gets involved and costs her sister the match, leading to their rivalry continuing on, as well as Paige and AJ’s.

Brian’s Prediction: Paige

Luke’s Take: After turning on her sister Brie at SummerSlam, the two Bella Twins have been involved in underwhelming segments on Raw, which lead to Jerry Springer getting stretched out of Raw a couple weeks back. Even though she isn’t in the match, expect Brie to have a major impact in the result.

This match has the making of an easy heel win for Paige. With Brie to rob Nikki of a win, it should lead to Paige picking up a cheap victory. Let’s hope this leads to Paige and AJ battling for the Divas championship alone again, while Nikki and Brie sort out their problems.

Luke’s Prediction: Paige

Mike’s Take: I don’t think there is any question that Brie is going to decide Nikki’s fate in this match. In addition to that, I think that Brie will be a face, no matter what.

While I have contemplated the thought of a broken up Brie helping her sister win the title, I think she will end up costing her sister instead.

After weeks of seeing Nikki terrorize Brie, while Brie fought to save their relationship, Brie has finally started to retaliate the past few weeks, and I see that trend continuing at NOC. Stephanie will cost AJ the match, Brie will attack Stephanie and cost Nikki, leaving Paige to retain the title.

Mike’s Prediction: Paige
