WWE Hell in a Cell Predictions: John Cena vs. Randy Orton (Hell in a Cell Match)

facebooktwitterreddit

At WWE Hell in a Cell, John Cena will take on Randy Orton inside Hell in a Cell. The winner of this match will be the next man to take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

More from John Cena

After The Authority made the No Holds Barred Contract on a Pole Match between Cena and Dean Ambrose, with the winner taking on Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell, Orton asked for “the other guy” (code for “loser”). So, when Ambrose defeated Cena and earned his shot at Rollins, that set up the match between Cena and Orton.

The Authority would also put this match inside the Cell, and they would add the #1 Contender’s stipulation.

Here are the predictions from Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Carl Gac, Becca Cook, Callum Wiggins, and Mike Smith:

Rob’s Take: Unfortunately, this is going to close the show because the winner gets a chance to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

We’ve seen this match over and over again. However, it feels like this match is more intriguing than the most recent ones between the two. Could that be due to Orton’s impending babyface turn? Possibly.

I see Seth Rollins costing Orton this match. He will find his way into the Cell and Curb Stomp him, leading to John Cena winning this match and getting his 3rd chance at facing Lesnar at a future date.

Rob’s Prediction: John Cena

Jordan’s Take: Our two top superstars have to do something on Sunday so lets pit them against each other in Hell in a Cell. That is essentially what WWE did by making this match for Sunday. Oh, the IWC know this is a meaningless match? Okay, let’s add the stipulation of the winner gets a title shot against the Brock Lesnar. Interested? No, not really. Everyone and their grandmothers know that Cena will be facing Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Similarly, everyone knows that Lesnar likely will not be returning until January to begin his program for the Royal Rumble PPV. Therefore, logic suggests that Super Cena will prevail once again. It’s unfortunate, since Orton has been at the top of his game of late.

Jordan’s Prediction: John Cena

Carl’s Take: The company’s 2 established main event men squaring off doesn’t really appeal to me that much to be honest, but it’s all about the chance to face Brock in this one. It’s written in the stars that Cena should get his rematch with Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, which is a shame because I’d love to see Orton get the win here. I can’t see that happening and the leader of the Cenation has to take it here. The fact it’s in the Cell really doesn’t attract me to this match any more than a standard singles match.

Carl’s Prediction: John Cena

Becca’s Take: Orton has been great recently and it pains me to think that his horrible win/loss record with Cena will get even worse, so I’m going to be optimistic about this one. Rollins will interfere, costing Cena the match and giving Orton the chance to face Lesnar. This feud will cause Orton’s face turn and it will also give Rollins the chance to continue the feud he kind of started with Cena.

Becca’s Prediction: Randy Orton

Callum’s Take: I can’t shake a feeling of dread about this match. John Cena vs. Randy Orton has been done time and time again, but I’ll reserve judgement on the quality of the bout until after it has been done. I will say if it is made the outright main event, the live crowd will eat it alive.

After the announcement that the winner will challenger Brock Lesnar, I have to plump for Orton to get the win. It would prelude to his face turn and give the fans an original encounter between two major stars. My fear is that Cena will win and face Lesnar once again, which wouldn’t be terrible, but it pales into insignificance next to the potential of an Orton/Lesnar bout. Orton to win.

Callum’s Prediction: Randy Orton

Mike’s Take: I know I’m in the minority, but I’m very excited for this match. I know nobody has to like what I like (and I love both Cena and Orton), but you do have to respect the talent both men have. In recent memory, they have put on some very good matches, including one that turned the tide on that volatile crowd in Pittsburgh at the Royal Rumble.

Many rumors in recent months have said that Orton doesn’t want to have a match with Brock Lesnar. On top of that, other rumors have suggested that Cena will again be the next man to challenge Lesnar for the title.

It wouldn’t be the first time that internet rumors were false, but I still believe that Cena will come out on top in this one.
