Brock Lesnar As A Face Would Be A Game Changer

Brock Lesnar has been described as a mercenary since returning to the WWE. Through the mercenary billing, WWE has managed to hype Lesnar as the top heel on the roster. That might have changed on Monday during Monday Night Raw when Lesnar unleashed a mesmerizing attack on The Authority’s henchmen.

I’m a Paul Heyman guy. By default, that makes me a Brock Lesnar guy. That would be why I am entertained whenever Lesnar is on my television during a WWE program.

My entertainment reached full-on jubilation last Monday night during Raw.

Lesnar opened Raw by calling out Seth Rollins. Rollins did not answer Lesnar’s call, instead, the Best Incarnate was confronted by The Authority, Kane, and the Big Show. There was tension during that segment. At one point, I found myself begging for Lesnar to attack Triple H, Kane and the Big Show. The tension subsided once John Cena took to the stage and the focus then turned to Cena trying to gain back the jobs of Erick Rowan, Dolph Ziggler, and Ryback.

For the time being, the tension between Lesnar and The Authority was forgotten.

Forgotten until the final moments of Raw.

After Sting cost Rollins, Kane, and Big Show a victory over Cena, Triple H took to the top of the announce table and demanded that Sting returned to the ring.

Sting did not return, instead, Lesnar’s music hit and the crowd erupted in cheers. Yes, with the exception of Sting, Lesnar got the biggest pop of the night when he returned to the ring at the end of Raw. Lesnar went right after Rollins. Kane and Big Show attempted to thwart Lesnar’s attack but that resulted in both of The Authority’s henchmen receiving a F5. (Can we break from the article for a moment to marvel at the strength it takes to not only lift the Big Show above your head but then hold him there for a few seconds before delivering a F5).

An interesting thought emerged after Raw.

Could Lesnar actually turn face?

Such a scenario would see Heyman align with Rollins–likely at the Royal Rumble–and Lesnar drop the title on Sunday. WWE likely will have  a face win the Royal Rumble match and then face a heel champion. Meaning if Lesnar is going to turn face, then WWE won’t have two face characters facing off at Wrestlemania for the title. Therefore, if Lesnar is going to turn face, he likely will drop the title on Sunday.

Lesnar as a face would be a game-changer.

There has been a growing belief in the past month that Daniel Bryan will be winning the Royal Rumble match and challenging Lesnar at Wrestlemania for the title. If Lesnar drops the title on Sunday, Bryan likely won’t be winning the Royal Rumble match as WWE seems to be angling towards a Bryan-Lesnar feud for Wrestlemania.

In any event, because of Lesnar’s attack on Monday, the Royal Rumble on Sunday is shaping up to be an excellent show.
