Brock Lesnar appeared at UFC 184 last night. What could be the implications of this?

More from Raw

If you missed it, Brock Lesnar appeared in a full suit and tie at UFC 184 last night in Los Angeles. This is just 6 days after the WWE World Heavyweight Champion did not appear for a scheduled appearance on Monday Night Raw on February 23. Lesnar’s contract with WWE  is set to expire the day after WrestleMania, and sources state that a deal has not been made between WWE and their champion to renew that contract. That might be a spoiler alert for the WrestleMania main event.

Most expect a bidding war to ensue on March 31 over the services of Brock between WWE, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Bellator MMA. Lesnar, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, was forced out of “The Octagon,” due to a battle with Diverticulitis. According to Paul Heyman, Lesnar is fully healthy now, and we never truly saw a 100% healthy Brock Lesnar in the UFC.

So what does all of that mean?

Why was Brock in L.A. last night? Is he a big fan of UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey? Was he there to talk contract with UFC President Dana White? Or could he have been there just to enjoy the fights?

What it probably means is we may have seen the last of Brock Lesnar in a WWE ring for a long time. Lesnar is a very proud man, and he lost very convincingly to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. According to reports Lesnar’s bout with Diverticulitis was at its worst at that point, and Overeem did test positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs. But that performance has to linger in the back of the mind of the reigning WWE champ.

Overeem is set to return to the UFC on March 14 against Roy Nelson. If Brock returns to the UFC he will likely want to revenge that loss if not given a title fight. Or even if offered the title shot, he may still choose to fight Overeem, if Overeem can pull of a victory over Nelson.

There really wouldn’t be a reason for Lesnar to jump to Bellator MMA unless they offer him some massive contract with a lot of guaranteed money, but I don’t see them being able to outbid the UFC. Which is why Bellator is struggling to put big time cards together and settling for main events like Kimbo Slice v. a 51-year-old Ken Shamrock.

Yes, that Ken Shamrock.

With all of that said, what I think Brock Lesnar being at UFC 184 means is, he will sign a UFC contract on March 31.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is not a huge fan of having his talent appear at UFC events. Former WWE Champion, and current UFC fighter CM Punk, asked to walk his friend, Chael Sonnen to the Octagon. According to Punk, McMahon said no. Which leads me to believe, Lesnar didn’t ask for permission, nor care what would happen if he showed up on UFC Pay-Per-View. So he probably doesn’t care much for the WWE right now, and most likely will not resign a contract with the wrestling promotion.

In the post UFC 184 press conference Dana White was asked about Lesnar being in the crowd, and Lesnar’s expiring WWE contract.

“Brock is under contract but when it is up, I’m sure he will call me,” White said.  It sounds as if the writing is on the wall.
