WWE WrestleMania 33: Who is Randy Orton’s Opponent After Elimination Chamber?

Who will Randy Orton be facing at WrestleMania 33 for the WWE Championship?

At the 2017 Royal Rumble match, Randy Orton would win to become the No. 1 Contender to the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33. This would be his second Royal Rumble victory, with the 2009 match being his first.

Following Orton’s win, WWE announced the WWE Championship match for the Elimination Chamber. The winner of this would move onto WrestleMania 33 to face the Viper. Dean Ambrose, John Cena, Baron Corbin, the Miz, AJ Styles, and Bray Wyatt competed for this opportunity on Sunday.

Well, after the final pinfall, Wyatt would win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career. That means he will face Orton for the belt at WrestleMania 33, barring some unforeseen circumstance. The show takes place on April 2.

This match had been seen coming for a while, especially with the rumored WrestleMania 33 match card from the Wrestling Observer. Orton and Wyatt had pretty much been confirmed, with the WWE Championship waiting to be moved to the latter Superstar at Elimination Chamber.

By setting up this match, it creates another inter-Wyatt Family conflict. One had just been completed with Luke Harper defecting from the stable and facing Orton in a match at Elimination Chamber. Now we have the two remaining men going head-to-head with fists likely flying, and RKOs being given out left and right.

The interesting part of this will be who breaks off as the face and the person that remains a heel. Orton flipped as recently as October, so could WWE be transitioning him back? Wyatt hasn’t tested the waters much with being a good guy, except for about two weeks in April 2016. Might he become a crowd favorite for the next six weeks?
