WWE Morning Paper (Mar. 11, 2017): What’s Next for Finn Balor?

The WWE Morning Paper for Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Almost three years ago, this website hosted a daily morning article called the “WWE Morning Paper.” It recapped the previous day’s events and provided some of the fun moments going on in wrestling. The last edition was published on November 17, 2014.

Well, as LL Cool J once said in “Mama Said Knock You Out,” don’t call it a comeback. Actually, you can call it a comeback because the WWE Morning Paper has returned for Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Ring of Honor Takes on Sin City

Every March, Ring of Honor celebrates the birth of its company. It started in 2002, nearly one year after WCW was bought out by WWE.

15 years later, ROH is still going strong and celebrated with their 15th Anniversary Show on Friday night. This saw the Hardys compete after being threatened with legal action by Impact Wrestling, and Christopher Daniels finally win the ROH World Championship. Daniels’ tag team partner, Frankie Kazarian, had turned on him weeks earlier. However, he swerved everyone by teasing helping Adam Cole, only to assist the challenger in his quest of winning the title.

Finn Balor is Back!

After nearly seven months away from the ring, Finn Balor returned at the WWE live event in Buffalo, NY to main event the show. He suffered a severe shoulder injury during the inaugural WWE Universal Championship match in August 2016.

Balor is back in the heart of WrestleMania season, which is great for stacking the talent deck on Raw. However, when he returns to TV (if it’s before the Show of Shows), he’ll have to make his way into the card. Will that be via the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal? Because after everything that’s already been set or speculated upon, that seems like the best bet for the Demon King.

Cody Rhodes Returning to Arrow

Cody Rhodes has been a busy man since leaving WWE in 2016. He’s appeared in ROH, NJPW, TNA, PWG, EVOLVE and other promotions. However, the Star That Left Them in the Dust also appeared on the cable TV screen for the CW show, Arrow in the fall of 2016 as Derek Sampson. It’s a role he will officially reprise within the next two months.

Reby Hardy vs. Impact Wrestling

Before ROH 15th Anniversary went on the air, Reby Hardy took to Twitter to bash how the company handled her husband and brother-in-law’s contract situation. She even claimed threats of a lawsuit.

Who Could Face Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania 33?

Alexa Bliss is going to have somewhat of an open challenge at WrestleMania 33 for her SmackDown Women’s Championship. So who could end up facing her?

Tweets of Yesterday

We have to start off with Balor’s short-but-sweet tweet:

John Cena is hosting Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night, adding to his growing list of non-WWE accolades. On Friday, he teased that the “Doctor of Thuganomics” could make its return at the show.

Video of the Day

Word Life actually did return before, but on WWE TV back in 2012. This was on one of the final episodes of Raw before WrestleMania 28, which saw him face Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
