Who will be Unstoppable at NXT: Takeover?
Tonight NXT presents another live special, NXT Takeover: Unstoppable. There are three title matches on the card as well as a # 1 contenders match for the NXT title. Who will be victorious at Unstoppable? DailyDDT has all the previews and offers up some predictions.
Emma and Dana Brooke vs Bayley and Charlotte
Preview: This match is a combination of two different feuds, with Bayley and Emma having more heat behind their feud. Emma told Bayley to shed her good girl attitude in order to get to the top, but Bayley disregarded her advice and the two have had bad blood since. Dana Brooke is a newcomer on the scene and drew the ire of Charlotte by claiming she was the superior female athlete in NXT. These two feuds come to a head at Takeover.
Prediction: This one seems tricky to predict, as Dana Brooke could use a strong win in her live special debut, and Emma needs some more momentum to cement her heel turn. However I see them giving the victory to Bayley and Charlotte. Those two are painted as two of the strongest female competitors in NXT. Expect a strong showing by the heels, but Charlotte and Bayley will prevail.
Baron Corbin vs Rhyno
Preview: Unstoppable force, meet other unstoppable force. Corbin has been in dominating squash matches, and Rhyno has a long resume of destruction in his 20+ years within the ring. Rhyno made his intentions clear, asking for a one on one match up with Corbin not long after his debut in NXT. This match will definitely be a hard hitting affair, and we’ll have to see how long the match actually goes.
Prediction: This match could be the big signature win for Corbin early in his career that the feud with Bull Dempsey was supposed to be. Rhyno is an established star and can take a loss with no harm coming to him. If the WWE is serious about pushing Corbin as a single’s star eventually, he will go over Rhyno tonight.
NXT Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs Becky Lynch
Preview: The Boss Sasha Banks defends her title against Becky Lynch in what promises to be a fantastic NXT Women’s championship contest. These two stole the show a few weeks ago with their well done contract segment. Both women bring plenty of intensity and good ring work, so the match quality will be there.
Prediction: Sasha Banks has been doing such a great job as the heel champion, and NXT tends to like running with longer title reigns. Expect a great match from both women and a valiant effort from Becky Lynch, but Sasha will retain.
NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Buddy and Murphy (c) vs Enzo and Big Cass w/ Carmella
Preview: This feud has evolved well in the past few weeks. Initially it was all about the tag champs trying to woo Carmella. Carmella told the champs in no uncertain terms to get lost, and now the feud has been more personal with the champs taking out Enzo and Big Cass before one of their matches. This match is about more than the titles now.
Prediction: Buddy and Murphy have been serviceable as champions, but their reign has been without any real highlights. Enzo Amore is the best talker in NXT hands down, and hearing him talk as a champion may be too good of an opportunity to pass up. The challengers have been improving their in ring product, especially Enzo. The Realest Guys in the Room become The Realest Champs in NXT.
#1 Contenders Match: Tyler Breeze vs Finn Balor
Preview: This match was supposed to be a triple threat match to determine the next #1 contender for the NXT Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, Hideo Itami is injured and will be unable to compete. Luckily for us there is still a great competitive match to be had between Breeze and Itami. Both of these men have every right to be the next to challenge for the NXT title, but only one can come out on top.
Prediction: Breeze has been perpetually at the top of the card for a while, and was involved in that great Fatal 4 Way match at the Takeover event of the same name. However, it doesn’t seem to be his time to rise up again. Balor has been a hot commodity in NXT and has learned the WWE style very quickly. Balor will get the victory over Prince Pretty and move on to the NXT title.
NXT World Heavyweight Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Sami Zayn
Preview: This will be the match of the night. Not to take away from any of the other contests on the card, but the intensity between these two former best friends and current rivals will be red hot. Zayn is the resilient challenger and former champion who wants his revenge, and Owens is the smug, angry, heel champion. Their last match was a classic and this one will match or maybe even surpass it.
Prediction: As much as everyone loves the underdog (see Bryan, Daniel) a win just does not seem to be in the cards for Zayn. Sami looks to be in line for a promotion to the main roster, and though Owens had his debut this past Monday on RAW it doesn’t seem like he will be continuing on the main roster. Owens will continue to dominate the competition on NXT as champion and Zayn will move onto the main roster for good.
