WWE SmackDown Review: Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus
By Evan Gomes
We get a recap after the break of Reign’s three matches from RAW to stay in the Money in the Bank ladder match, but only show two of them. Odd.
Sheamus vs Roman Reigns
Result: Reigns wins by DQ (Kane Interference)
Rating: 2.8 stars out of 5 stars
A recap of Sheamus vs Orton from RAW is shown. Reigns is favoring his ribs after the amount of punishment he took on RAW. Reigns rolls to the outside and catches Sheamus with a huge clothesline on the outside. Sheamus regains control and throws Reigns into the announce table as we go to break.
Back from break, Reigns is being controlled by Sheamus in the ring. Reigns gets control back, sets Sheamus up for the flying apron dropkick, but Sheamus rolls out of the way at the last instant. The two trade control and power moves for a while with neither man able to consistently gain the upper hand. Reigns hits the Samoan Drop and sets up for a Superman Punch before Kane and J + J show up to distract Reigns. Reigns kicks out of an Irish Curse backbreaker, dodges a Brogue Kick and hits a Superman Punch. As Reigns is getting ready for a Spear, Kane comes in an hits a big boot for the DQ.
Sheamus hits Reigns with a Brogue Kick after the match. Then Kane chokeslammed Sheamus and announced himself as the final participant in the Money in the Bank ladder match. Sigh. Reigns gets hit with a chokeslam as well. Kane stares at the briefcase above the ring to end the show.
A decent SmackDown, following the normal pattern of the past few weeks. Some high point (the opening promo, Neville vs Kingston, Owens being Owens) and some low points (Ryback-Stardust match, Kane interfering again, Kane being in the MITB match). Overall I enjoyed it and thanks to some of the promos, the card for Money in the Bank is looking really entertaining.
