5. The New Day
Last Week: 2

The past seven days weren’t so much a step back for the tromboning trio as they were an apparent lack of steps in any direction whatsoever.

Last week Raw signed off with them laying waste to the Dudleys, Ziggler and John Cena. This week, they kept the humor up with a nice dig at Randy Orton and his lack of luck with factions, alongside the usual hip gyrations and pronouncements regarding tricep meat. But there wasn’t much else beyond that.

Furthermore, things became even more muddled by their interruption at the beginning of Raw. Why were they jawing off at Orton and Ambrose when they could’ve been adding further salt in the wounds of Ziggler and Cena? Or here’s an idea: Maybe try to sabotage the Dudleys—their opponents at HIAC—in their match against The Ascension.

Like much of the roster last week, The New Day suffered from some aimless booking.

4. Roman Reigns
Last Week: 4

Any Roman Reigns naysayer got plenty of ammunition for their argument against the WWE’s number one proponent of “Believing That” (nevermind what That does or does not refer to from week to week).

I’ve said it plenty of times and I’ll say it again: Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt’s feud heading into Hell in a Cell is one of the best things going for the pay-per-view right now. Giving us a whole week of one-sided, Roman Empire dominance had glimmers of Reigns’ failed WrestleMania push earlier this year.

It’s okay, if not preferable, to add a little vulnerability to his character. Odds are he’ll win at HIAC, but for drama’s sake the WWE should at least try to make it appear like victory it isn’t an absolute certainty.
