Finn Bálor

The Irish-born star still has some time to develop his character as the NXT Champion, but Finn Bálor has developed quite the interest among fans in the short time he’s been with the company. While he is a much smaller wrestler at five-foot-11 and about 190 pounds, he has a lot of the characteristics in his wrestling to guys like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

But what piques my interest the most with Bálor is the “Demon” side of his persona that he brings out for special matches, where he uses body paint to create a different look from the standard Bálor we see on the weekly episodes every Wednesday night. The idea of having this “Demon” appear only when he feels it is necessary can create even more interest for the pay-per-view events.

The one thing I would like to see from Balor in the future is seeing if he can make subtle changes to his body paint over time. While it is obviously based off of the alien symbiotes (i.e. Venom) from the Spider-Man comic book series, maybe he can introduce more detail so that every time he “changes” for a big match, the fans will be treated to something new each time.

The “Demon” can bring a mystique to the WWE in a way that we haven’t had in a long time since the days of the Undertaker and Kane from the Attitude Era – especially when the main television audience can witness progression from basic Balor to Demon Bálor. He has shown that a few times in NXT and it’s likely that will be one of the biggest draws from young fans In the WWE Universe.
