What happened?

AJ would defeat Paige in a short match as a buffer before the main event to retain the Divas Championship.

Did this match have any implications after the PPV?

As noted earlier, AJ would drop the title to Nikki Bella one month later at Survivor Series. This was a 30-second match that ended after Brie Bella kissed AJ to distract her and lead to Nikki getting the win. This was done to replicate AJ kissing Brie’s husband, Daniel Bryan, before his match at WrestleMania 28 against Sheamus.

AJ would lose a rematch to Nikki the next month and go out of action a short time later due to injury.

Paige went in limbo for a while after this match. She got turned face “outta nowhere” to go along with what was happening in Total Divas storylines a few months after the bout. The British Diva wasn’t given much to do until WrestleMania season, when she teamed with AJ to take on the Bella Twins.
