WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Kevin Owens (c) vs Ryback

Kevin Owens got his hands on his first Intercontinental Championship after beating Ryback at Night of Champions, since then he’s faced and defeated Chris Jericho for the belt at the MSG live show and rolled on to this rematch with the former champion.

Ryback has spent the last few weeks beating jobbers to build him up as a beast, most recently hammering Bo Dallas on SmackDown in easy fashion.

Owens has increasingly become somewhat of an old school heel of late. He won the belt after a rake to the eyes on Ryback and a quick roll up for the victory, then beat Jericho after a poke in the eye and another quick roll up. Owens has been a favourite of a lot of the fans who’ve followed him since his days as Kevin Steen, he’s proved he’ll do anything he can to win and keep hold of his belt.

Ryback seems lost without his Intercontinental title belt. He has engaged in matches with perennial jobbers like Adam Rose and Heath Slater on both tv and at live events of late. A way to give him some wins and keep him rolling as a threat to Owens and the belt he now holds. On the last Raw before Hell in a Cell, Ryback was placed in a match with WWE Champion Seth Rollins by Shawn Michaels. In an even match it was Rollins who got the victory in the end.

This should be a good match, Owens is slowly being positioned as the number two heel on the roster and Ryback seems to be finally getting into the baby face spot that the company has wanted him to be in for a while.
