1. Sheamus

Last Rank: –

Week Highlights: Said he was going to “get jiggy on these posers” and successfully cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase on the same night.

Sheamus? Really?

If the WWE was hoping that having Sheamus cash in on Roman Reigns would rally the crowd behind Reigns, they were clearly mistaken. Instead, now we’re faced with a feud where there is nobody to root for.

Regardless, what’s done is done. There is no going back, and we’re going to have to suffer through three weeks of build to Reigns and Sheamus’ groan-worthy showdown at TLC. The best possible outcome is that this program doesn’t extend any further beyond that.

Sheamus is a great heel—far more enjoyable than his lengthy run as a face—but he’s a heel that requires the right counterpart. Sheamus isn’t like Kevin Owens in that there’s the inherent risk that majority of fans will begin pulling for the bad guy. On paper it was a safe move to have him cash in on Reigns. But now that it’s actualized, it’s apparent that for Sheamus to thrive as a heel, he needs to face off against someone with universal appeal.

Sheamus versus Dean Ambrose? Yes. Let’s go Ambrose. 100%.

Sheamus versus Ziggler? No question about it: Ziggler all the way.

Sheamus versus Roman Reigns? Ugh, why does this have to happen?

As much of an awful conundrum as this is, it doesn’t change that Sheamus is now the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He’s accomplished more than anyone else this week, and that’s enough to warrant him the number one spot in the WWE Power Rankings.

Pray he doesn’t keep that spot for too long.
