WWE TLC 2012

The best of the TLC pay-per-views happened in 2012, a stacked card and the debut match of the Shield was a card not to forget.

Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio took on Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow in the opener, a tables match to determine the No. 1 contender for the tag titles. A good bout was ended when Rhodes pushed Sin Cara off the top rope through a ringside table whilst he attempted a dive onto Sandow. Cesaro defended his United States Championship against R-Truth, with the Swiss Superman winning a solid match after hitting uppercuts and the Neutralizer to retain his belt. Kofi Kingston held on to his Intercontinental title after beating Wade Barrett in the third decent match of the night, so far everyone had produced some solid outings in the ring.

  • Next up saw the first match that The Shield had taken part in, with Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns battling Kane and Daniel Bryan (Team Hell No) and Ryback in a TLC match. The three men debuting looked dominant in the early going, putting Ryback through the Spanish Announce Table and then a double suplex for Bryan from on top of a table. They looked experts at using the numerical advantage on their opponents, something they would go on to do for the foreseeable future. The end came after Ryback had put Rollins through a table on the rampway from the top of a ridiculously tall ladder, only for Reigns and Ambrose to powerbomb Bryan through a table in the ring. A dominating win for the debut team, just what they needed, and a fantastic match to go with it. These men really are the future of the WWE.

After that great match, we were served up a short Divas title match between Eve Torres and Naomi, won by Eve following a neck breaker. Big Show and Sheamus would brutalize each other for the World Heavyweight Championship in a chairs match. Show would get the win after using a super-sized chair shot on the Irishman for the three, despite the two men in the match this was a very good bout.

The most shocking result of the night would be the 3MB team of Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre getting beaten by Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and The Brooklyn Brawler. With Brawler getting the tap out win on Mahal, never thought that I’d be so happy to see Brawler in a WWE ring again.

Next: Looking back at the First WWE TLC Match

Our main event here was an intriguing match between Dolph Ziggler and John Cena, with Ziggler’s Money in the Bank case on the line in a ladder match. The outside factor of AJ Lee and Vickie Guerrero brought a good element to the match rather than spoiling it. A solid back and forth match saw Cena trying to hit the AA on Ziggler while he was on the ladder on Cena’s shoulders.

It was ultimately ended after AJ, who had been aligned romantically with Cena, turning on him after seemingly getting the better of the meddling Guerrero after hitting Cena’s patented 5 moves of doom. She skipped around the ring as Cena looked to climb the ladder, pushing him off to a massive roar from the crowd. She would leave the ring with a cheesy grin on her face as Dolph climbed the ladder to claim back his case.

This show was a great card from top to bottom. Everyone on the card pulled off great matches in the ring and made this the best WWE TLC PPV in the events history. Only time will tell if the 2015 TLC will knock it off that perch at the top!
