New Day Rumble on

Over the last few months, despite the sometimes awful nature of Raw, The New Day have been a shining beacon of greatness. Last night at TLC we saw them steal the show alongside The Lucha Dragons and The Usos on the way to retaining the Tag Team Titles. The fact that New Day is a three-man team yet again played to their advantage with Xavier Woods and his trusty trombone becoming involved to win the match.

There is a handful of teams who could step up and challenge for the tag belts but it’s time for The Lucha Dragons to get another shot in a rematch on tonight’s Raw. The way that New Day have been calling The Lucha Dragons children in the last few weeks is just another great little thing that makes The New Day stand out.

Have a match that comes early in the show to get the crowd buzzing like they did at TLC. Put Xavier Woods on commentary again and he can provide the hilarity over the microphone as well as the trombone. With Big E down at ringside and Kofi being beaten up by both Kalisto and Sin Cara in the ring, Woods tries to get involved again, only for the referee to spot him and rather than disqualify the champions he sends him to the back.

From there you can have Kalisto pulling off some more of his ridiculously good offence and looking like the Lucha Dragons could get the win until they eventually do get the three count on Kofi to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. At that moment, you have Xavier Woods come out with his rule book and tell the crowd that he’s spoken to The Authority and that as all three members of New Day weren’t in the arena when the count occurred the belts cannot change hands and that they are still the holders of the Tag Titles.

A new way to have the New Day hold on to the belts as well as giving the Lucha Dragons the pop from winning the belts only to lose them on a technicality. Having a “Freebirds Rules” tag team is not something that has happened for a long while in WWE and this could be another way to elongate their title reign whilst providing some amazing comedy moments from the three members of The New Day.
