1. WrestleMania 31

Date: Mar. 29, 2015

Venue: Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California

Was there any doubt on this one? The show of shows gave us some of the year’s biggest moments.

Daniel Bryan took home the Intercontinental Championship in a lawless, 7-man ladder match that was the site of Dean Ambrose taking a devastating fall through a ladder.

Triple H faced off against Sting in a match that might have lacked in the wrestling department, but was extremely thick in nostalgia department. That match went from being about icon versus. icon to WCW versus WWE, warming the hearts of the long-time fans of the Monday Night Wars.

And the main event brought us the highlight of the year.

Everyone was concerned about how good of a match Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar could put on, and to their credit, they silenced all the doubters. However, seeing Seth Rollins—who had already put on a great match with Randy Orton earlier in the night—run down the ramp with the MITB briefcase in hand was exhilarating.

The conclusion was flawlessly executed with Rollins hitting the Curb Stomp on Roman Reigns after Reigns’ spear on Lesnar, and Michael Cole summed it up perfectly when he called Rollin’s cash-in the heist of the century.

Some parts of the show lagged (including a sun that refused to set for the Undertaker’s entrance), but no other pay-per-view in 2015 could match the emotional highs experienced at the grand stage of them all. That is why WrestleMania 31 ranks as the number one WWE pay-per-view of 2015.
