Singles Match: Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe

Well this one ought to be pretty good, right?  Just over a year ago these two slugged it out in a couple of matches in NXT over the number one contender spot for the NXT title.  The final TV match they had saw the two go toe to toe in a 43-minute 2 out of 3 falls match that saw Joe reign victorious and then go on to defeat Finn Balor for that belt.  So these two have a pretty good understanding of what the other can bring and that should make for a solid scrap Sunday at Fastlane.

Joe is clearly riding high.  He’s Triple H’s new hitman and he’s relishing his new role.  He’s already sidelined Seth Rollins, pummeled Roman Reigns, and now with a win Sunday over Zayn he could put himself in prime position for title opportunities in the very near future.  He’s got a very large chip on his shoulder and is looking for the respect a former TNA and NXT World champion deserves and he seems to have qualms in taking that by force.

Zayn on the other hand is one of those guys that seems to get awfully close but just can’t seem to reach that next level of competition.  But it’s not from lack of fan support as “The Underdog From The Underground” seems to have unconditional love from the WWE Universe and as such could be a world champion in the distant future.  Unfortunately for Sami, a run towards a world title will not begin at Fastlane.  Joe just got to the main roster and he looks like one of the next guys up for world title plans.  Joe comes out on top again.

Winner: Samoa Joe
