A look at why Roman Reigns should get the win when he faces the Undertaker at the Dead Man’s playground — WrestleMania.
WWE has been steadily building towards WrestleMania 33 now that Fastlane is over. The fallout edition of WWE Raw set the tone for what the WrestleMania card would be like for the red brand this year. As it stands, we would see Goldberg and Lesnar collide for one final time with the Universal title on the line. Former best friends Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens would put fight it out for the United States title.
The final segment of Raw would create the most intrigue, though. An unannounced appearance by the Dead Man himself would send the Chicago fans into a frenzy. However, after confronting Braun Strowman and establishing his superiority by merely staring down the mountain of a man, Taker would proceed to leave. That was the cue for Roman Reigns to make his entrance and get under the skin of the Undertaker.

Reigns would repeat that this was his yard now; a phrase he possibly regrets now. The words would anger the Undertaker. He would pause and stare at the WrestleMania sign for a moment and then would proceed to choke slam Reigns to the canvas. This would set up their big showdown for the show of shows without any further questions. Undertaker simply does not just lose at the annual event. Even though the streak is no more, Taker has not lost any other matches at the annual extravaganza.
Be as it may, the Phenom could be in line for his second defeat at the showcase of the immortals. Roman Reigns is simply booked that strongly at times. Undertaker is a legend in the business. That being said, against Roman Reigns, WWE might just choose to break the tradition once again.

5. Roman Reigns is the Future Face of the WWE
In all fairness, it wouldn’t be wrong to refer to Reigns as the face of the WWE now. However, he is still in a state of transition. The face of the WWE does not just wrestle well in the ring. He would also attend press meets and TV shows much like what John Cena does. Reigns would certainly be the unquestionable face of the WWE in the not so distant future.
He would one day be what Hulk Hogan or Rock or Cena meant (means) to the WWE universe. A case can be made for fans rejecting him throughout his singles run. However, being chosen to be the face of the biggest pro wrestling company in the world comes with many trials. For one, he would have to be well-connected and influential in the WWE universe. This does not pertain to his connection with the audience alone. Roman Reigns has 2.17 Million followers on Twitter.
Everything he does and says there creates engagement. It sparks engagement for the WWE as a whole. Secondly, Reigns could be attributed to longevity. He has not sustained any serious injuries that could potentially cut his career short so far. Compare Reigns to other new era favorites like Seth Rollins or Finn Balor. Both of them are on the sidelines at the moment. Both of them had to spend time in rehab while Reigns has been at it except for a few minor injuries and a four-month hiatus in 2014.

Even legends in the world of Wrestling like Kurt Angle believes Reigns would eventually win over the crowd at some point in time. He had a lot of good things to say about Reigns during an interview with ‘The Statement Show’ podcast. With all this, there is no reason to logically deny that Reigns is not the future face of the WWE. As such, he would potentially be the second person in history to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania.

4. It is What the New Era Needs
WWE would eventually have to do something to assure the fans we are still in the new era. Despite the commentary team’s constant ramblings, we still have part timers and stars of a bygone era main eventing shows and PPVs. Goldberg is the WWE Universal champion. Brock Lesnar would face Goldberg at the main event of WrestleMania for the Universal title. Randy Orton is the Royal Rumble winner. All this would sound like we are in 2004.
Yet, we are still in 2017; still in the middle of WWE’s promised new era. The main event of this year’s WrestleMania would be filled by part-timers. The second WWE title match would feature another veteran in Randy Orton. In fact, none of the new era stars have been placed in any of the prominent matches except Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt. As such, these two would have to go over to lend any sense of credibility to the new era.

If the Undertaker wins, that would once again send Reigns backward in terms of momentum. Not only does it make Reigns look bad, it would also make Braun Strowman look bad. After defeating Strowman, if Reigns were to suddenly fall to an out of shape Undertaker, it would make the entire new era look bad. After all, Strowman has been booked as the largest threat of the new era.

3. A Win for Reigns Will Complete Their Story
In fairness, this wouldn’t be the first time that the Big Dog and the Phenom have crossed paths. If one would go back to April 2013, we would find the SHIELD locking horns with the Brothers of Destruction and Team Hell No on multiple occasions. Reigns, along with Rollins and Ambrose would even power bomb the Undertaker through a table.
Throughout the feud, Reigns would remain largely protected. Not to mention, fans were beginning to take note of this silent brooding powerhouse of the SHIELD. The trio would defeat the combination of Brother of Destruction and Team Hell No in televised matches as well. WWE has presented Goldberg as someone who is invincible to Lesnar. The same could be said about Reigns as far as the Undertaker goes, if they want to.
Defeating the the Phenom one on one at the grandest stage of them all would complete the story. A story that began with the Shield. Creative could even have the Undertaker reiterate his history with Reigns from back in the days. Things like that would add even more logic to this hot feud and make it must-see television.

2. A Great Chance to Prove Reigns’ Credibility
It goes without saying that the Undertaker is too banged up to carry the weight of a singles match anymore. Moreover, he would have to be protected from taking serious bumps in any match he is a part of. There is a possibility to Braun Strowman lurking in the background throughout this feud. For all we know, this match could even become a triple threat, should Strowman find his way into all this.
However, that would entirely depend on creative. What we can be certain about is that Reigns would have to carry a major portion of the match for this to work. In fact, one of the reasons for the Undertaker to be paired with a younger guy could be his health condition and inability to carry the match. This would put Reigns in a position where he would have to take charge of the entire match.

Unlike his feuds with AJ Styles or Kevin Owens, both of whom were veterans of the in-ring game, Reigns would have to take up the mantle this time. However, that is definitely not suggesting that the Undertaker does not have the ring awareness to pull this off. He merely does not have the physical health to pull through.
Regardless of all the fan backlash and the constant boos against Reigns, he has improved by leaps and bounds. His mic skills are admittedly below par. However, throughout the years, Reigns has improved as a performer. He has never stopped learning and after each PPV he continues to improve.
This match would be his greatest test of skill to date. If he is able to carry the match and tell a story inside the ring, that would place him in an elite category. A good wrestler can work a good match. A great wrestler can do that and tell an emotional story between the ropes. Doing that and beating the Taker clean at WrestleMania 33 would cement Reigns’ legacy and add much to his credibility.

1. He Deserves This Moment
Two years ago, a heart-broken Roman Reigns sat in the middle of the ring following Seth Rollins’ steal of the century as JBL called it. The decision to have Rollins win the title was made at the last-minute due to fan backlash. Roman Reigns has improved a ton compared to where he was in 2015. He has constantly put in the time and work to become a better wrestler.
Despite his poor mic skills, Reigns has given it his all. Wrestling runs through his blood and he has continued to remain professional to this business. We already established Reigns’ odds of being the future face of the WWE. He has many more years of action left in him and has remained fairly healthy throughout and hasn’t yet sustained any career threatening injuries too.
The biggest positive for Reigns would be his ability to raise a reaction from the crowd. Whether than be boos or cheers, the crowd loves to react as soon as his entrance theme hits. Moreover, Reigns has shown a great deal of professionalism to accept it as it is and see past the boos. He would have to be given praise for seeing the bigger picture amidst all this negativity.

When considering the amount of effort he has put in and the amount of professionalism Reigns has shown, he deserves to have this WrestleMania moment. Only one other person in the entire WWE has beaten the Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all. Joining him after working a solid match on his own would place Roman Reigns among the elite stars of the new era. Moreover, someday that would assist him to win over the fans.
