Which WrestleMania 33 match results have the most likely chance of happening?

WrestleMania 33 is approaching, which means WWE’s top stars will collide on the biggest stage in front of tens of thousands of fans. It’s the company’s Super Bowl and receives coverage in a similar fashion.

Heading into Monday, Mar. 20, the WrestleMania 33 match card is nearly completed. The numbers of scheduled bouts has reached double digits, meaning we’re in for a lengthy show for a second consecutive year. WrestleMania 32 lasted for nearly seven hours in 2016 with Roman Reigns vs. Triple H as the main event.

With the card mostly set up, it’s easy to dive into each match and predict what may happen. This includes how a match ends, if a title change happens and any potential swerves from the planned lineup below:

AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

There is even the possibility of more matches being added. Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin for the WWE Intercontinental Championship and Triple H vs. Seth Rollins could be the last ones added, unless there’s a surprise development.

With this in mind, what could be the most obvious match results of WrestleMania 33? Let’s take a look at the five that stand out the most.

5. John Cena and Nikki Bella Defeat Miz and Maryse

Before the AJ Styles-WrestleMania 33 “controversy,” there was the hoopla over John Cena’s opponent. It went from potentially being at the top of the card to a mixed tag match. He’ll team with his real-life girlfriend, Nikki Bella to face the Miz and Maryse. It’s not the ideal thing for Cena to do, if you feel he has to be in one of the show’s biggest matches.

Cena and Bella are not only a couple, but WWE’s most marketable male and female stars, respectively. They are featured all over promotional material and have increasing Hollywood ties. From the Leader of the Cenation’s recent movie appearances, his role on American Grit and Bella as arguably Total Diva’s headlining name, they are increasingly becoming featured outside the company. So with all that they do to be ambassadors for WWE, why wouldn’t they win?

The Miz has done plenty of work for WWE when he’s not in the ring, but just isn’t close to Cena and Bella on the Hollywood level. While he’s starred in a handful of movies, they didn’t draw the mainstream acclaim of something like Trainwreck or Sisters.

Miz also seems like the prototypical heel that Cena ends up taking down, especially with this not being a big match on the card. It will likely be placed in between two of the more marquee bouts and provide a win to satisfy the crowd for a portion of the show.

4. Enzo Amore and Big Cass Get Their WrestleMania Moment

Enzo Amore and Big Cass were destined to be the stars of the WWE Tag Team Division when they were called up after WrestleMania 32. They had top-of-the-tag-team-card ability in NXT and had been set to fill a big role.

However, around SummerSlam, the Realest Guys in the Room began to flounder. This included a feud with Rusev and Lana that started with Amore nude. It finally ended after they defeated the Bulgarian Brute and Jinder Mahal, leading to the push back into the Raw Tag Team Division. This moved them into a title match at WrestleMania 33 with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, and Cesaro and Sheamus.

Arguably, none of these three teams have the necessary momentum to carry the Raw Tag Team Division. However, with WWE liking to give the faces their big win at WrestleMania (except WrestleMania 32), expect the Team That’s Not So SAWFT to become Raw Tag Team champions. It would be their first title victory since signing with WWE.

The win would be years in the making for Amore and Cass, who have received title opportunities before, but were never given the chance to take that next step. WWE could let him move forward in their development for the first time since debuting at WrestleMania, which isn’t such a bad thing to do after almost one year.

3. AJ Styles Defeats Shane McMahon

Most WWE fans hate the idea of AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33. It’s been made out to be the worst thing possible for Styles, with the perception being that his opponent needs to be someone who’s a great wrestler. McMahon is far from an in-ring technician, but the match has the potential to exceed everyone’s expectations.

However, the match result seems predictable with Styles defeating McMahon. It makes too much sense to happen.

The Prodigal Son is an authority figure for SmackDown, which hasn’t made him anywhere close to being a full-time wrestler. He competed at Survivor Series 2016 for the brand and hasn’t stepped into the ring since, something that could be similar after his match at WrestleMania.

With Styles being the full-time, everyday Superstar, this should lead to him getting the win. He has more to gain from the victory than McMahon, who would drop back into the Commissioner role. It could put the Phenomenal One into WWE Championship contention or even fed up SmackDown enough to move him to Raw.

This match is one of the most predictable for WrestleMania, but which others tops this?

2. Kevin Owens Wins the WWE United States Championship

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho’s friendship finally broke down in the middle of February, ending what had been a six-plus month alliance. It set up their WrestleMania 33 match, which would be confirmed shortly after Jericho returned to the WWE. The United States Championship is also being put on the line.

It’s likely that Y2J is going on tour with Fozzy after WrestleMania (or within a few weeks of the show). So he may be gone for an indefinite period of time. He’s not going to leave with a title around his waist, if that’s the case, meaning we should expect him to lose the U.S. Championship to Owens at the Show of Shows.

Even if Jericho wasn’t going away, it would make sense to put over the younger star at WrestleMania, which is KO. It gives him his first-ever win at the event and partially makes up for his 21-second loss to Goldberg at Fastlane. He can then pick up where he left off with his Universal Championship run, although it’s a tick down the ladder. If Brock Lesnar then defeats Goldberg and takes him off WWE TV, that will help his case, too as a potential show main eventer.

1. Brock Lesnar Wins the WWE Universal Championship

Goldberg got his WWE Universal Championship moment at Fastlane, defeating Kevin Owens in one minute less than Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. It made him look unstoppable. At some point, however, that’s going to end.

More from WrestleMania

The former WCW star is a good bet to leave after WrestleMania, rumors or not. He’s pretty much done it all since coming back, main eventing two PPVs, winning a title, being in the Royal Rumble match and potentially headlining the biggest show of the year. Also, would he really stick around for the shows in between now and SummerSlam? Probably not because they’re just not as important, at least in the eyes of WWE. That could mean he returns, but at a later date.

With Goldberg going and Lesnar still having one year left on his WWE contract, that should make this far too obvious. Even though we’ve been through a part-time reign of the Beast Incarnate’s before, he’s still a top star for WWE and someone who they’re paying a ridiculous sum. So the company could look to get the return on their investment again by making him the champion of Raw.

If this result is so obvious, does it mean WWE will keep it as the main event? Or will Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton close things out?
