2. Christian
In January 2014, Christian, due to concussions, had retired from professional wrestling. It was a major blow to not only Christian but also all his fans as well as the WWE Universe. Christian had been part of the WWE off and on for 12 years and was one of the most successful superstars to ever come through the company. All in all, “Captain Charisma” won 20 championships while in the WWE, 4 of those being world titles, while becoming the 23rd Triple Crown Champion, and the 11th Grand Slam Champion. He’ll forever be known as one of the best tag team wrestlers of all time as he won 9 tag titles in the WWE, 7 with his best friend Adam “Edge” Copeland.
As far as what type of superstar Christian was. Well, he really had it all. He had the looks, the mic skill, and limitless in-ring ability. He first came to the WWE in 1998 as a quiet, vicious assassin who took the Light Heavyweight Championship in his first ever WWE match. Over the course of his tenure, he’d go on to transform himself into one of the most charismatic, entertaining, and brilliant characters to ever grace the roster. Christian’s popularity was never in question, but he solidified himself as main event caliber in 2011 during his feud of the year with Randy Orton. At 37 years old at that time, it seemed like he finally hit his prime. So be forced to retire just 3 years later was heartbreaking.
Christian stayed involved with the WWE in some capacity until 2016 when he was finally released from his talent contract. So it makes sense that now would be time to get the call to be inducted. And as Christian himself inducted Edge into the Hall of Fame, Edge would be the prime candidate to do the same for him. It would be a welcomed sight to watch Edge and Christian pose for their patented 5 seconds just one last time.
