WWE No Mercy is about a month away, and speculation is running wild already on what will happen at this upcoming RAW-exclusive PPV.

No Mercy is scheduled to take place in a few short weeks, and WWE is going to be promoting that event heavily in the coming weeks. This RAW-exclusive PPV will take place on the final Sunday in September, putting it right at the beginning of the time of year when WWE’s competition heats up.

September has long been a month when other regular sports and new seasons of other shows re-debut, putting more of a strain on WWE’s resources and creativity. The creative staff in WWE need to put much more work into the storylines they present for their regular shows and their PPVs – including No Mercy – for them to be able to compete with other shows properly.

No Mercy will have several matches set up, including the regularly-scheduled world title match. However, there are a few creative directions in which WWE could go to make this show live up to its name.

No Mercy could feature several ultra-violent matches that will demonstrate its wrestlers ‘showing no mercy’ towards their opponents. Or, WWE could forget about that and simply out on the same typical matches that happen at every PPV without taking the different names into consideration.

Here, we propose six matches that will take place at No Mercy.

WWE Universal Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Braun Strowman

At SummerSlam, Braun Strowman was easily the most dominant wrestler in the Fatal-4-Way match for the Universal Championship. He was the one that demolished Brock Lesnar in such spectacular fashion, and it was Strowman that looked the most convincing as a monster threat. Given these two elements, a confrontation between these two men has already been booked for No Mercy.

Both Strowman and Lesnar are very popular with the audience now, as both men have developed their respective auras of dominance and power. Strowman in particular has become one of the biggest fan favorites in recent months, and has shown considerable improvements in that same time period. As such, you can expect these two behemoths to have a monumental clash at No Mercy.

WWE RAW Tag Team Championship Match: Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose (c) vs. The Hardyz vs. Cesaro & Sheamus

When Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins bumped fists to signal their reunion, the reaction they got was monumental. Their recent tag team title victory was also very well received, which indicates that the audience does, in fact, love this pairing.

But they are still champions, and will thus be expected to defend their newly-won titles at the next PPV. Moreover, Cesaro and Sheamus, the former champions, will most certainly want to regain the titles they lost.

These first two points are likely to happen because they’re both predictable and logical. But WWE’s bookers aren’t always ones to follow the predictable path. To that end, there’s a good chance that the Hardyz will be involved in a title match somehow.

They’ll be added to this match for two reasons. First, they have nothing to do not that the Revival aren’t performing due to another injury. Second, the duo are still extremely popular and it would be foolish for WWE to let such beloved wrestlers go to waste.

Handicap Match: John Cena & Roman Reigns vs. The Miz & The Miztourage

WWE gave the fans their first taste of this major feud on the most recent episode of RAW. While the overall reaction to seeing Cena and Reigns in the same ring was good, the WWE bookers would be foolish to give something as big as this away at a B-level PPV like No Mercy.

However, WWE is still likely to give the fans a taste of Reigns and Cena in the ring together with this No Mercy match-up. WWE is likely to present both Cena and reigns as faces against a heel Miz in the hopes of generating further sympathy and cheers for Reigns as he faces his second-biggest challenge yet.

This match is likely to be centered on Reigns and Cena trying to out-do each other in terms of power and ability, so that a budding rivalry between the two of them can develop further.

WWE RAW Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Nia Jax

Sasha Banks just won the RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2017, ending the reign of Alexa Bliss. Banks is likely to defeat Bliss once again in the near future, but it won’t be at a PPV. Instead, Banks will be challenged once again by Nia Jax, whose superior power will be presented as a major problem for the newly-crowned champion.

However, given recent developments in NXT, this rivalry isn’t likely to last very long. With Asuka having relinquished her NXT Women’s Championship, the most likely scenario will be that she’ll be moving to RAW once her injury heals. At that point, she’ll feud with Banks, who will have defeated Nia Jax at No Mercy.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs. Cedric Alexander

The Cruiserweight division has lost a considerable amount of momentum, especially since the different characters therein aren’t given enough time to develop their characters in meaningful ways. Akira Tozawa actually had some momentum going into SummerSlam as the new champion, and lost all of it because Vince McMahon decided on a random and unnecessary title reversion.

It’s clear that No Mercy will feature a cruiserweight championship match of some kind, with Neville defending his belt against a random challenger. As for whom that challenger will be, let’s go with Cedric Alexander, since he appears to be gaining some momentum with the audience at the moment.

Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt in a SummerSlam rematch

Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt have been feuding for weeks now, and both of them are at one win apiece. Bray won in a pretty good singles match on the RAW before SummerSlam, and Balor regained his momentum at that event, having introduced his ‘Demon’ alter-ego to the main roster audience. With the series tied to one per wrestler, WWE will go down the obvious route and book a tie-breaker match at No Mercy.

This will likely be both one of the earliest matches on the No Mercy card, as well as a gimmick match of sorts. One can expect some kind of weapons use or special stipulation to be added in order to try and create some additional drama for this feud. Sadly, however, the Demon isn’t likely to appear at No Mercy, as WWE wants to keep that element for the most special of occasions.
