WWE SmackDown 5 Biggest Stars: The Rise of Sami Zayn

4. AJ Styles
AJ Styles should be the centerpiece of SmackDown Live, and he proves it week in week out. It’s great to see Styles back in the WWE Championship picture, and quite honestly it’s about time.
Styles is 40-years-old. To say he’s in the final stretch of his career would be an understatement, but while he’s still performing at such a high level both in the ring and on the microphone, it makes no sense for the WWE not to place the main event spotlight on him.
Jinder Mahal may have challenged Brock Lesnar to a Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series, but Styles made it clear he wants a shot at the WWE Championship in the near future. And he should win the title. It seems unlikely that’s the direction we’re headed, but that’s a discussion for another day.
Styles challenging for SmackDown’s top prize at the very least adds some intrigue to the main event picture on Tuesday nights. And he was on top of his game while confronting the champ on SmackDown this week.
Not everyone deserves the “Superstar” tag the WWE likes to throw around. Styles does. And he shows us why on a weekly basis.
