He’s got the gift of gab and the the gift of jab, and he should be walking out with his boo, the Cruiserweight Championship at WWE TLC 2017, Sunday night.

Surprisingly, the cruiserweight division has been at the forefront of discussion amongst the WWE Universe. a lot has been happening with the purple brand, and a lot of it is hurting WWE.

The biggest news to come out of 205 Live is that it has lost its king. Frustrated with Enzo being given the spotlight and being unable to advance outside of the restricted cruiserweight division, Neville walked out of Raw and quit WWE.

The creative team, desperate for a replacement, decided to have the scheduled match between Kalisto and Enzo at TLC occur two weeks earlier on the episode of Raw that saw Neville walk. In a surprising move, Kalisto ended up defeating Enzo for the Cruiserweight Championship with a little help from Mustafa Ali.

Despite Neville’s departure from WWE, the cruiserweight division has been thriving as of late with Enzo’s addition. He has drawn eyes to 205 Live and got the cruiserweights the main event segment on Raw a few weeks in a row.

Kalisto has also done his part in filling the void that Neville left behind. Kalisto, the master of lucha things, is a familiar face that fans are already invested in and is also one of the best in ring talents that WWE has to offer. He may even be able to drag a good match out of Muscles Marinara at TLC.

Arguments can be made for and against each wrestler walking out of TLC as Cruiserweight Champion, but the obvious choice is to make the Cruiserweight Champion the Realest Champ in the Room.

3. Enzo Can Now Have Challengers For The Cruiserweight Championship

Despite Enzo coming in hot as the centerpiece of the cruiserweight after his championship win over Neville, there was one problem with his reign: No one could challenge him for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Enzo, showing off his newly acquired heel tactics, got a contract that stated no cruiserweight could touch him or else they would forfeit the opportunity of challenging him as long as he is champion. The cruiserweights, who thought their respect was more important than this contract, all decided to attack Enzo anyway.

This left the realest guy in the room with no real challengers for his Cruiserweight Championship. This was until Kurt Angle announced that Kalisto would be joining the cruiserweight division, and that no contact clause did not apply to him.

So, If Kalisto, the only person able to challenge Enzo for his “boo”, were to lose, then WWE would be creatively stuck once again, with no opponents for Muscles Marinara. However, now that Kalisto won, Enzo can now face off against any one of the cruiserweights (except for Neville, sadly) once he wins the belt back.

Then, WWE can put the focus back on the cocky and cheating Enzo Amore as he takes on the entire locker room of cruiserweights in a continuation of their heated storyline.

2. The Cruiserweights Don’t Have A Top Babyface

Enzo was thrown into the cruiserweight division as a familiar and recognizable face that could help boost 205 Live ratings and would make the Cruiserweight division more relevant.

Despite his inability to perform at the same level in the ring as his cruiserweight counterparts, this was a good thing for the cruiserweight division because the only familiar face at the time was Neville.

Neville, being the only character that fans could really get invested in, held the Cruiserweight Championship as a heel for the majority of his run as a cruiserweight. When Enzo and Neville effectively executed the double turn, 205 Live finally had a top face and top heel that could both draw ratings and interest from fans.

The only problem was that Neville ended up walking out on WWE, leaving the cruiserweight division right where it was before the arrival of Amore: with a top heel and no top face.

Kalisto, of course, entered the realm of 205 Live in an effort to fill the void of that top face, but judging by his crowd reaction when he was announced as a member of the roster and his recent promo work, Kalisto just isn’t on that Neville level.

So, expect the belt to get placed back on the waist of The Certified Heel, Enzo, as WWE goes back to work on building a top face that can take it away from him. Look for Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander, or even Gran Metalik to try to fill this void.

1. No One In The Division Is A Bigger Draw Than Enzo

As much as fans hate to admit, Enzo is over in a big way as a heel. His promos have been better than ever now that he is able to absolutely roast the entire cruiserweight division (except for Tozawa because he said he liked him on Twitter), and the fact that he can’t compete as well in the ring and cheats gets him legitimate heat with the crowd.

Enzo has closed out Raw a couple times now and has delivered in each segment. It is no secret that 205 Live drew more viewers than usual when Enzo was holding the strap, so it is more than likely that WWE wants the belt back on him to continue that trend.

Enzo also is one of the top merch sellers in WWE, so the more spotlight that is on him, the more money that will be in the pockets of WWE officials. For a division that has seemingly been stuck in quicksand, Enzo has now got the entire WWE Universe talking about the cruiserweights.

Now, with the spotlight provided by Enzo, fans can begin to get invested in characters like Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander who, despite their immense talent, really were not that relevant.

Kalisto may bring his lucha things and Rey Mysterio-esque merch to the table, but it is nothing compared to what Enzo brings.
