Kazuchika Okada (0-2) vs Hangman Page (1-1)

You could tell that the NJPW crowd were firmly in the corner of the former 720 day reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Back and forth action in the early going, but Page gets the advantage with a stunning Suicide Corkscrew Elbow.

More from NJPW

As the match progresses, their was a beautiful spot which ended with Page connecting a Shooting Star Press. However Okada begins to fight back and the crowd have livened up once again, but Page once again stops Okada through a beautiful Slingshot Lariat. Page goes for the moonsault but Okada escapes.

Going towards the end of the match, Okada was resting on the outside as Page this time connected the moonsault. He then puts him back in the ring and goes for the Rights Of Passage, but Okada turns it into a German Suplex. It didn’t connect however as Page landed on his feet, but Okada gets the last laugh by connecting a Tombstone Pile-driver to Page.

In the closing moments, lots of strikes connect and one of those strikes was Kazuchika Okada’s Rainmaker, which sealed the deal for Okada’s first 2 points in the tournament.

RESULT: Kazuchika Okada (1-2) defeated Hangman Page (1-2)

RATING: 4.25 stars

Overall, I would give the show 3.75 out of 5. Excellent tournament matches, and each was unique and different which is always a positive. Hope for more of the same!
