The Kevin Owens Show
The return of The Kevin Owens Show is heartwarming. Former Universal Champion Owens is charming on the mic, and he’s one of the best at hyping his — and others’ — future matches.
But in this age of remakes and reboots, nothing can ever return in the exact state in which it once existed. Owens always held his talk show segments in the ring. Now, he’s got his own personal little set next to the stage. That’s not foreshadowing anything at all, no sir.
For his guest tonight, Owens has his personal guru, Jinder Mahal, and his guru’s personal assistant, Sunil Singh. Jinder doesn’t get a word in edgewise, because apparently Owens is trying out the Fox News method of hosting.
Before too long, Owens calls out his SummerSlam opponent, Braun Strowman, as he tries to goad the Monster Among Men into a rematch with Jinder from last week. Braun is nowhere to be found, and Owens takes the opportunity to gloat — why wouldn’t he? And that’s when the stage starts to shake.
You read that right. The stage wobbled like a bad funhouse trick, or an amusement park ride. Why? No, it wasn’t an earthquake localized to the Jacksonville area: it was Strowman, flipping over said stage. Braun headed to the ring for a match, and during the commercial Kurt angle made it official: Braun vs. Jinder, next.
