Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
Bryan Heaton: The match everyone wanted to see in 2016 after a crazy episode of Talking Smack is finally going to take place at SummerSlam. And if anything, the extra time waiting for it has made the match even more must-see. Bryan’s comeback has been one of the feel-good stories of wrestling in 2018, while The Miz is, well, just plain awesome. I want to see more from these two, so the easiest way to do that is to have Miz win after some underhanded tactics.
Christopher Jeter: My head says that Miz will probably win via heel chicanery to keep the feud going. But screw that, I’m going with my heart and picking Daniel Bryan to kick a hole in Miz’s chest and force him to tap out to the Yes Lock. Miz can get his heat back on the mic.
Trace Johnson: In what might be the most exciting match on the card given the history between these two, it could go either way. This seems like a feud that should go beyond just one pay-per-view, so I’ll go with The Miz here.
Ashley Leckwold: No other match on this card feels quite as exciting as this one does. No other match has the history, the anger, the rivalry… Well, maybe Joe vs. AJ does, but only if you’re acutely aware of their days in TNA. Here though, you have two people who have been ready to fight each other for eight years and have somehow not faced off in singles competition in almost that amount of time due to various circumstances of some sort. This is another one of those matches that feels too close to call, but it might just be time for Daniel to finally deliver that long overdue face punch to the Miz.
Joshua Raibick: This might be Miz’s biggest match since his WrestleMania main event with John Cena many moons ago. Unfortunately for Miz, the build to this feud suggests that Daniel Bryan will finally get his redemption in form of victory over the A Lister.
Joe Soriano: The Raw Women’s Championship and Universal Title matches are the likely main events at SummerSlam, but Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz is the best long-term story here. And that’s saying something, given that Lesnar vs. Reigns is also on the card.
We’ve wanted to see Bryan kick the Miz’s ass for so long. Bryan has always been one of the best in the world, and Miz has joined him with some A-plus work over the past couple of years. Many fans may want Bryan to win, but this is The Miz’s time to make a statement.
