SmackDown Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match

Carmella (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair

Bryan Heaton: Carmella can’t go into Evolution as champion. While her reign has been entertaining, the in-ring aspect of it hasn’t been up to snuff. May as well use the major platform of the second biggest pay per view of the year to put the title on someone else. If the story goes the way it’s been going, the best thing to do is have Charlotte pin Becky, setting off those two on a crazy rivalry heading into Evolution. Who wouldn’t want to see that match?

Christopher Jeter: In light of last Tuesday’s verbal exchange between these three, Carmella HAS TO LOSE THE TITLE ON SUNDAY! Who should she lose it to though? Since WWE seems to be foreshadowing a potential Lynch heel turn (which I really hope doesn’t happen), I’ll pick Charlotte to win the title.

Trace Johnson: I’m a little torn with this match because I could easily see Lynch win, but because of a seemingly inevitable disagreement between her and Charlotte, I’ll say Carmella escapes with the SmackDown Women’s Championship yet again.

Ashley Leckwold: I’m still particularly salty about this match. No shade against Charlotte, but this really should have been Becky’s moment to shine instead of the Golden Girl coming in to steal her thunder. Still, Charlotte has never found her way out of a Dis-Arm-Her, so if the two of them can hold off Carmella, I honestly believe that Becky could take the crown back.

Joshua Raibick: Strong feeling that WWE wants to get the SmackDown Women’s Championship off of Carmella before WWE Evolution 2018.  The smart choice is Charlotte Flair, it turns The Queen heel while building maximum sympathy for Becky Lynch as their feud moves forward.

Joe Soriano: I honestly can’t pick here, because for as much as I’d like to see Becky Lynch climb that mountain at SummerSlam, there’s this thought in the back of my mind that Charlotte Flair is going to turn heel. The focus has been on Becky being more than mildly upset at Charlotte’s inclusion in this title match, yet Charlotte is the one with the history of bullying babyfaces. Oh, and she didn’t drink the tea on the go-home episode of SmackDown Live. Furthermore, the camera made sure to focus on that.

That said, I’m still picking Becky, even though this match could go in any direction. Just as Rousey’s title win would make the most sense at SummerSlam, so, too, would Becky’s second SmackDown Women’s Championship victory. We could eventually get Rousey vs. Becky at Survivor Series, too.
