Raw Tag Team Championship Match
The B-Team (c) vs. The Revival (Kickoff Show)
Result: The B-Team defeated The Revival via pinfall
Rating: 2.25 out of 5 stars
More of the same for The B-Team, more of the same for The Revival. WWE out here just perpetuating the myth of “pay per views don’t mean anything, the only stuff that matters happens on TV.”
The one thing I took out of the match, though, is WWE is finally acknowledging the strengths of Dash and Dawson. As has been stated repeatedly by me and a gajillion other people, The Revival are terrific tag team wrestlers. They truly are a team that is much better than each performer individually.
So a big gripe of mine has been their relative ineptitude, or a lack of commentary hyping their stellar tandem work when it happens. Tonight, the entire match was structured around how good The Revival is as a team. Immediately, they divided and conquered, working on Dallas while completely neutralizing Axel.
Ten minutes of great teamwork kept Dash and Dawson firmly in control, until Axel finally tagged in. Still, it was all Revival, and it took a fluke bump — admittedly well executed, I have to say — to turn an easy Revival victory into a successful title defense for the B-Team. Clearly, this means we’re getting a rematch, probably on Raw tomorrow. But it was a step in the right direction for the tag team division on Monday nights.
