Constable Baron Corbin vs. Bobby Lashley
Result: Bobby Lashley defeated Constable Baron Corbin via pinfall
Rating: 2.0 out of 5 stars
The first part of the match demonstrated two things to me. First, Baron Corbin again showed he has what it takes to be a top heel on WWE Raw, which is wonderful because there aren’t many of those at the moment. And second, Bobby Lashley is nowhere near as good in the ring as Roman Reigns, so going with The Big Dog against Lesnar at SummerSlam was the 100 percent correct decision.
This isn’t meant to be a “let’s overpraise Roman, everyone” type of thing, nor is it meant to say Lashley is garbage. Bob is fine, even if his best days are probably past him. But look at the Reigns/Corbin match from a few weeks ago, and compare it to this match. Everything stayed constant except for Corbin’s opponent. Tonight was definitely a step back from the Reigns match.

If he’s going to make it as a top heel, Corbin may want to lay off the half nelson/Million Dollar Dream/Cobra Clutch he’s been doing way too much lately. It’s nice that he slows the pace down and works rest holds, but the more he does that particular move the more it seems like he’s trying to make that another signature move. If you can’t get a submission out of it, you don’t need to go to that well so many times.
The match wasn’t bad, and I don’t necessarily agree with the “BORING” chants it got towards the end. But I definitely think it went too long for what these two can make interesting, and that’s why the crowd turned on it.

(Yes, that’s how you spell it.)
Paul Heyman approaches Kurt angle backstage about Brock Lesnar’s “contractually obligated rematch” for the Universal Championship. Funny, it took Finn Bálor two years to get his. But Angle basically tells Heyman where he can stick his request, turning him down for a match at Hell in a Cell.
I do not envy Kurt Angle later tonight when Brock shows up.
